About this deal

For less money, the B+W 67mm 010 is an excellent filter, as are the multicoated version and the basic multicoated Hoya filters, but the Hoya HD3 is the toughest and the best. To calculate a centimeter value to the corresponding value in inches, just multiply the quantity in centimeters by 0.393701 (the conversion factor). Centimeters to inches formulae On 1.3x Canon cameras it will see angles-of-view similar to what a 90~260mm lens would see on a 35mm camera.

Bokeh, the feel or quality of out-of-focus areas as opposed to how far out of focus they are, is good. It's very neutral. Breathing is a motion picture term which refers to what happens as you pull (change) focus from near to far. In movies we do this as the conversation goes from one actor to the next. As a viewer you don't notice it because your eyes are also going between actors, but if you pay attention, you can see focus move from near to far. There are people called focus pullers whose sole job is to do this. A bayonet hood would be more convenient, even if it meant dropping the rubber bumper that's at the front of the lens barrel. It's an uncommon feature that adds a bit of protection to the front element and filter ring, at the slight cost of some filter compatibility. Regular 77mm filters are not an issue with the lens, but the bumper might interfere with specialized filters like the H&Y RevoRing Variable ND; its adjustable threads can't get close enough to thread in. (Credit: Jim Fisher)This is an ideal lens for daytime sports because you don't need IS (Image Stabilization) or the f/2.8 speed of Canon's other 70-200mm lenses, and this one retains the super-fast focusing and excellent image quality you do need. The metal 77mm filter thread is a nice change from some of the plastic garbage Nikon sold us in earlier years. Filters spin off and spin on easily with little worry for cross-threading. This is a high quality, fast focusing tele zoom. Get it if you want a budget price for a super quality optic and can survive without IS or f/2.8. With a 9-bladed rounded diaphragm, I get pretty good 18-pointed sunstars on brilliant points of light at the smallest apertures. This was Canon's top professional zoom from 1995 thorough 2001, when the first 70-200mm f/2.8 IS was introduced. This 70-200/2.8 (non-IS) remains in production because if you're shooting action or shooting from a tripod, IS doesn't do anything.

This 70-200 FL is a huge improvement over the old 70-200/2.8 VR II from 2009 because it weighs less and focuses much closer. While the rated close-focus distances aren't that much different, older 70-200s cheated and didn't really go to 200mm at close distances. This new FL lens really is 200mm at close distances. Since this new 70-200 FL doesn't cheat on 200mm, it gets what seems like twice as close when you need it.
