About this deal

While it undoubtedly looks the part, the Vero’s clever shell can feel a little rough to the touch which can take some getting used to if you’re used to something smoother. Of course, the biggest talking point of the Aspire Vero is its design, but let’s discuss the numbers first. The dimensions are standard : 14.3 x 9.4 x 0.7 inches with a weight of 4 pounds. This is slightly bigger and heavier than Samsung’s Galaxy Book Pro 360 (13.9 x 9 x 0.5 inches, 3.1 pounds), but smaller and thinner than the HP Envy x360 15 (14.1 x 9 x 0.72 inches, 4.1 pounds). With the Intel® Evo™ Platform5 you get more real world battery life. Fast charge7 adds 4 hours in 30 minutes and instant wake8 in less than 1 second.

VeroSense’s focus is on energy efficiency and smartly contributing to keeping your laptop running longer6 with its four performance modes: Performance, Balanced, Eco, and Eco+.

Acer has gone for something a little more standard in the display department with a 15.6-inch Full HD panel that offers up some decent colours and more than enough screen real estate for day-to-day working and relaxing. The Aspire Vero is made with Post-Consumer Recycled plastics (PCR) – reclaimed plastics that have been recycled and repurposed to aid in our effort to reduce global waste. x USB Type-C™ port USB supporting : (Thunderbolt 4/USB 3.2 Gen 2/USB charging 5 V; 3 A/DC-in port 20 V; 65 W)

The webcam is disappointing – just another rather shoddy 720p affair that deserves no further words wasted on it. The Acer Aspire Vero is one of the most eye-catching laptops I’ve had the pleasure of testing within the last few months. Using the GFXBench tests, we can quantify the results and see the average frames per second (FPS) of a theoretical game running at 1080p and 1440p. At higher resolutions, the Acer Aspire Vero struggles to keep above 20fps, but at 1080p, it fared a lot better. Does that mean the Acer Aspire Vero is a decent gaming laptop? It’s possible, as long as the game isn’t too graphically intensive. (See our deeper dive into the performance of laptop integrated graphics in recent games.) Display and Battery TestsThe first graphics benchmark we run is the 3DMark benchmark, a graphics test suite for Windows that contains several subtests for different GPU functions and software APIs. We queue up two DirectX 12 tests in particular: 3DMark Night Raid and 3DMark Time Spy. (Note: We were unable to run the 3DMark tests on the XPG Xenia 14, so those results are absent.)

A 512GB SSD offers up a decent bit of capacity for storing all your files and programs, and isn’t as stingy as some other laptops. But this is the max capacity currently available on the Vero, which may not suit everyone. Last but not least, the final trial is the display brightness and color measurements. Using Datacolor's SpyderX Elite calibrator and its software tools, we measure display performance, screen-brightness output levels, and gamut settings for the three most relevant color spaces for laptop users: the sRGB, Adobe RGB, and DCI-P3 standards. I’m afraid to say that the Vero’s battery life is a little underwhelming. During the PCMark 10 office battery benchmark, it lasted just shy of seven and a half hours before shutting down. By way of comparison, the current range of MacBooks from Apple come with cases made from 100% recycled aluminium. All in all, the Acer Aspire Vero doesn’t do too badly here, at least compared with its company, coming in just behind the VAIO SX14. Graphics Tests

Time taken to drain from 100% to critical battery level under Windows 11 dark mode while performing typical workflows in a realistic environment. Individual system results may vary. The touchpad is generously sized at 5.1 x 3.2 inches, and features a nice tactile feel, support for Windows gestures, and a handy fingerprint reader in the top-left corner. Don’t get me wrong, the plastic surface will never quite match up to the use of glass in certain touchpads, but what we have is perfectly serviceable. Acer Aspire Vero: Performance For most scenarios, there isn’t anything wrong with the Vero’s panel especially for use indoors, but it isn’t the best option for uber-bright settings. Performance
