About this deal

Me?' said her father, stretching up his arms and revealing his potbelly. 'I've helped loads. I took my teacup . . .' He paused and smiled. 'And put it . . .' He looked serious. 'In the sink.' Get ready to sink your teeth into the fourth book of the spook-tacular series, Amelia Fang and the Half-Moon Holiday. Will Amelia be able to solve the mystery of the missing yeti treasure? And will she and her friends survive the perils of the crumbling Yeti Mountain and all the booby traps on the way? And now we get to the bullying part. Tangine could have been a very interesting character - he's a spoiled member of the royal family and a future king. In his opinion, his social status gives him the right to torment everyone around him, his main target being Amelia. By the end of the book it's revealed that Tangine's mother has disappeared not long after he was born and he's father has spent all of his waking moment's looking for her therefore neglecting Tangine and leaving him in the care of his Mummy Maids. Which is a very real and common situation with today's bullies. I see what the author tried to do but unfortunately it was once again executed, in my opinion,in a wrong way. Tangine realises that what he does is wrong and hurtful to others only after he is himself humiliated by Amelia. This could have been done very differently - Amelia could have asked Tangine to return her beloved pet instead of breaking into his house. The thing is that there wasn't even an attempt to talk thing out - it's quite important to show children that thing can be resolved by speaking up. So much potential wasted. Amelia sets off determined to retrieve Squashy away from the awful prince but can she and will she succeeded and what is wrong with the prince to make him so awful?

The book was wonderful, I hated the prince as you should and loved Amelia and her spooky friend. May I say the language and phrases in the book were genius for example a diephone and Great British Carve off for example made me laugh. The drawings were great too with a lot of detail for each character with elaborate costumes for the cast of the book. The deep issue in the book a round friends and parents worked nicely in the last half of the book when Amelia figures things out as the plot develops on and was actually a great twist as well as truthful in how we act to people as we develop relationships. This time we see the effects of what happened after the last book. The two worlds, light and dark, have reunited and this means several differences in various places. For instance, Amelia notices it in school. She has new classmates (who have to get used to waking up at night, cue a sleeping fairy in a test tube), new subjects to learn. But also in real life, glitter is all the rage, unicorns and other light creatures wander the streets. It just made me smile so much, I was happy for this world, that they could finally be united, be happy, and see that they aren't so different after all (or scary as they all thought). And when the King’s spoiled son Tangine captures Squashy, Amelia and her friends must escape the party to plan a daring rescue! In their race against time, they begin to realise things in Nocturnia may not be quite what they seem . . .Amelia's father is portrayed as a selfish male figure that doesn't care about his family in the least. Throughout the whole book he is seen solving crossword puzzles instead of helping his wife with preparations for an event that is clearly important to her or helping his daughter in a complicated situation she finds herself in. There is a particular scene where Amelia is amazed because her father puts his own teacup into the sink: Ahead of time Amelia has to show the prince around her school where he acts very stuffily towards them all and when he has dinner with the whole family pre barbaric ball, he acts entitled and ends up taking Amelia's Squashy, her friend! First problem emerged when we were introduced to Amelia's parents. Parental figures were ridiculed, undermined as authority and most importantly refused to help Amelia when she was in a state of need. Her mother puts the need to please the King before her own daughter on several occasions - for example she lets prince Tangine take Amelia's pet and when she protests and stands up for herself, she tells her "not to be hysterical and not to cause a scene". Ed Galton, ceo at Cake and executive producer on Amelia Fang said, “Amelia Fang is full of heart, warmth and big adventure.” Amelia Fang is a feisty ten-year-old vampire, who loves spending time with her two best friends, Grimaldi the reaper and Florence, a rare breed of yeti. They live in Nocturnia, a land of darkness, ghosts and ghouls, where the sparkly magic of fairies and unicorns fills them with terror.

But not long after arriving, the precious glittery treasures of the ancient yetis start to go missing. And when Tangine goes missing too he becomes the prime suspect! Not only that but the tunnels of Yeti Mountain have started to collapse on themselves and it looks like Florence and her family will have to move far away. It's looking like the gang might never see each other again!I have a soft spot for middle grade and children's books so when I saw Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball I was immediately intrigued. A book set in Nocturnia where everything sparkly, fluffy and cute is considered terrifying seemed like a great break from the literature I would normally read. Unfortunately, I had many issues regarding this book and how it executed certain topics. But whilst exploring, Amelia and the gang stumble upon an ancient curse – and are shrunk to the size of bugs! How will they make the bloodcurdlingly BIG journey to break the curse when they are all so very TINY? If you enjoyed Amelia's adventures so far, why not delve into AMELIA'S THIRD ADVENTURE... AMELIA FANG AND THE MEMORY THIEF The story is kind of reminiscent of Hotel Transylvania, and I think the influences are definitely there--Amelia's dad Drake wearing a Hawaiian t-shirt, a short vampire prince with poofy hair, the kind of vampires who's name is Vladimir. It all adds up, is what I'm saying. This book follows Amelia Fang, 10, as she complains about going to yet another one of her family's Barbaric Ball to her parents, Count and Countess of Nocturnia. The reason is because the ball is for adults only, but Amelia's mom insisted that she come. This year, however, they will welcome a guest that has long been absent. In the meantime, the Prince, Tangine will tour the town's school as part his training to become King. The Prince later took something of Amelia's that force Amelia to recruit her friends to help rescue.
