About this deal

It is very stable. It is the most stable kayak we’ve used other than the tandem version of this kayak (our ‘Bismark’) which is about 10cm wider and also is bound to be a bit more stable since it has the weight of 2 people in it. I now have the latest 380X model and I find myself using it again constantly. It’s true that it is not the fastest kayak out there but it is one of the most dependable, stable and versatile. I LOVE the Razorlite. I would have put it as the #1 inflatable kayak to buy but the truth is this kayak is not as stable as many of the others and therefore not suited for everyone. It is quite fast, benefitting from quite long front and rear sections. All of us found it to be noticeably faster than the PVC chamber kayaks we had previously used and Archie even found it to be faster than his hardshell sit on top kayak. The sea was generally calmer than the Manorbier-Tenby kayak the day before although there were a few spots where there was some rougher water which seemed to be due to tidal races.

Keep in mind that once you start thinking about going out in more extreme conditions and currents, you will need to invest in a hardshell boat. Who Should Buy an Inflatable Kayak? Less control and more easily effected by external factors such as the wind/weather, current and in-water obstacles. A great sea fishing kayak that I would argue is the best two-man inflatable I’ve had the pleasure of fishing from – very close to a 10 out of 10!You can position the seats wherever you want making the kayak suitable for 2 paddlers of any height. The carry bag is not as well made or designed as the one we had with the Bismark. The fabric on the bottom of the bag soon started to wear away where it had rubbed on the ground when being wheeled. There is a protective inner layer but we will need to patch this up by applying protective tap to this part of the bag. Also, the wheels should be on the other side of the bottom of the bag, like with the the bag for our tandem. This avoids any of the straps dragging down and getting caught under the wheels and seems to help stop the bottom of the bag drag on the floor when you are wheeling it Kayaking on the sea however is free of charge, and I’d recommend you venture out in beaches which are both lifeguarded and allow kayaks (not every beach does). Inflatable Kayak Safety

On the plus side, we have found the Story to be quite fast due to the streamlined hull, the drop stitch construction and plastic ‘cones’ on the bow and stern which help cut through the water. We are doing a separate full review on the Story kayak which we will link below when it’s uploaded. Deflate the kayak and wipe away any more water that you notice. Have a few towels available to wipe the kayak dry.

However, because it is made from nylon instead of more expensive materials like fiberglass and PVC, it is not as durable as some of the other kayaks on the market. This means that it may not last as long as more expensive options. The kayak also looks great, featuring a duo colour tone (multiple options available) and a nice sleek design.

With the warm weather across Britain, kayaking is an excellent way to explore the country, whether with old friends or new ones you make by joining a paddling club. It can only be used solo. Some kayaks are big enough to be used tandem but not so big that they cannot be used solo (eg, Itiwit X100) although there is always a trade off when paddling such kayaks solo. With the AquaTec kayaks, you can use the tandem as a solo kayak by attaching the seat near to the middle and indeed I have used the ‘Bismark’ solo a number of times. However, at 440cm long, 90cm wide and about 19kg in weight (just the kayak), the tandem is in our view not well suited to solo use. You'll find inflatable kayaks for solo adventures or larger inflatables suitable for two or more people, as a fun way to share the experience with family and friends. What should you consider before buying an inflatable kayak? The simple construction makes the Riber very stable, even in choppy conditions, and fishing from it usually went without a hitch.

FASTEST INFLATABLE KAYAK

This was an interesting kayak since the sea conditions were great but St Davids Head is a feisty old stretch of water and even on a fine day you could feel the swell and the tidal races which at times made me feel a bit like the kayak was in a washing machine. Again, no problems at all, I think stability is this kayak’s greatest quality. Launching from Abereiddy beach Paddling into a cove near St Davids Head. Much of the trip was not in such calm waters! The beguiling yet potentially dangerous waters off of St Davids Head, Pembrokeshire Before we dive in to the top 10 inflatable kayak options, let’s first discuss a few options and find out if an inflatable raft if the right one for you. Inflatable Kayaks Vs Hard Shelled Ones Pennel Orca on the other hand is more resistant to chemicals and UV rays, however is often more expensive. If you are going to be using your inflatable kayak regularly then you will likely be better off going with the more expensive but more resistant material.
