About this deal

Is the Behringer Super Fuzz the best cheap distortion available? Probably yes. Besides, this is a pedal made for newbie and intermediate guitarists. It can give you authentic tones and show you you don’t need to break the bank to have a professional distortion.

The processor itself is encased in a sufficiently sized, slightly eroded-looking metal casing, which has 5 interface control knobs and two footswitches for complete functionality. The control knobs include Volume, Tone, Fuzz, Sub Octave and Octave Up, all of which control the dB levels of the dry, octave and fuzz signal. It’s a great pedal for pretty much every alt genre, and while fuzz pedals aren’t exactly the go to for metal – this thing can really chug! The two sounds you get are a super compressed, heavy, mid-scooped sound that reminds me a little bit of my two Big Muffs, and then a screaming octave fuzz. My understanding is that this is a clone of a Boss pedal which is itself a clone of a old-school Super Fuzz.

For those who are just beginning to amass a selection of pedals in their signal chain and are on a tight budget, investing in a mixture of Behringer pedals from each of the aforementioned categories is a great way to increase the options you have available.

It’s a great tool for adding character to riffs or chord sequences and getting you that desirable ’60s guitar tone instantaneously.

What stands on this unit is the three-way Mode switch. This option allows you to choose one of the three super fuzz presets available: Behringer uses plastic enclosures to build its pedals, which helps to keep the cost down. This obviously makes them less roadworthy than pedals with metal housings, but it’s a key reason that they’re so affordable. While some people complain it comes in a plastic casing, which decreases its durability, it greatly decreases the price. It’s not really a complaint as we should take excellent care of all of our instruments, no matter what they are built off. Furthermore, it’s sturdy enough to travel around the tour bus with you.

What’s notable about the FX600 is that it offers two input dials and stereo outputs. This type of routing opens the pedal up to use beyond the guitar, and its simple user interface creates a seamless and minimalist workflow.
