About this deal

Originally designed as a training tool for cross country skiers, the Concept2 SkiErg® has been embraced by the fitness community for its ability to work legs, core and arms in a smooth, continuous motion. Great for all athletes at all levels—you don’t have to be a skier to reap the benefits of the SkiErg’s total body exercise. With the same flywheel and Performance Monitor as our RowErgs and the BikeErg, the SkiErg offers a quality workout that will build your strength and endurance.

In this article, we will go over what the ski erg machine is and what the best ones on the market are. If attached, it has a floor base of 24 in x 52 in which will raise the height of the SkiErg to 85in. If the floor base is not attached, the SkiErg reaches out to 83.5 inches. Concept 2 has made it to accommodate most wheelchairs and can still access the SkiErg with the floor stand still attached. This gives you more flexibility of where to place it since you don’t have to put it close to an outlet. You also don’t have to worry about tripping over power cords. Easy To Put TogetherThis is great for athletes and other people with leg injuries who want to get to get in a cardiovascular workout but can’t due to their injury. With a ski erg, you just step up to the machine and start pulling on the handles. There’s no need to power it up or strap into anything.

In fact, Concept 2 rolled out the newSkiErg at the 2015 CrossFit Games in the Concept 2 booth for anyone to try it, but it wasn’t until 2016 that it reached the competition floor.Step up to the machine. Stand about one and a half to two feet behind the flywheel with your feet shoulder-width apart. Meters (The Half Marathon): Some argue this is easier on the SkiErg than on the RowErg™. This endurance piece is great for testing your capacity. We would recommend building up from 5k to 10k to 60 minutes steady before attempting this. Plan on having nutrition, water and a great movie or podcast.

The PM5 monitor is Bluetooth-enabled, and you can connect it to many smartwatches and any Android or iOS device. This machine is built heavy-duty and is commercially rated. The frame has a 10-year warranty along with a 5-year warranty on the tank and seals. The SkiErg uses the same flywheel resistance and electronic monitoring systems as our indoor rower, the proven choice of rowing athletes around the world since 1981, so you can rest assured that the machine is made to last. As well as being durable and well built, the SkiErg is sophisticated too, with an advanced monitor that provides immediate, accurate performance data. The Concept 2 SkiErg also offers a trainer to choose the variation of how a person rows. With the SkiErg you can pull both arms simultaneously or together, depending on what you are training for. Compared to the Rower, a single chain/single pull machine.

#3 Water Resistance Ski Erg by First Degree Fitness

It’s pretty obvious that Concept 2 used their engineers to create their boxes because everything fit in extremely well. Concept 2 is really doing incredible things in all areas of their business. The ski erg machine has its benefits over other cardio machines in that you don’t really use your legs when operating it. You can even do the ski erg machine while seated. They can deliver a great cardio workout that is less boring than your traditional treadmill or elliptical machines that tend to bore people to death. The SkiErg is often used by multiple users in an indoor environment where the typical ski pole strap would be cumbersome to adjust between users, and difficult to keep clean. To alleviate this, the SkiErg has strapless grips. The “shelf” at the bottom of the grip rests against the heel of your hand similar to how a strap would transfer the load to your hand. The surface of the grip is covered with the same durable material we use on our rowing oar grips. This material has good grip properties and does not absorb water. If you prefer to train with grips with straps, standard Nordic ski pole grips can be adapted to the SkiErg. Why is a rowing company making a SkiErg? When using the double-pole technique, each pull engages the arms, shoulders, core and legs in a downwards “crunch,” using body weight to help accelerate the handles. Watch the technique video and you’ll see the legs raising the body weight on each stroke, much as they do when skiing on snow. A workout on the SkiErg provides a true full-body workout that exercises the legs at least as hard as the upper body.
