About this deal

I took a look at some of the key features of both metal detectors and placed them side by side in the table below for comparison. However, performance will be the ultimate factor in determining which metal detector is better. Unbiased performance tests are starting to show up on YouTube for the XP Deus II. Connect your XP MI-6pinpointer (not included) directly up to your Deus II for a fully seamless, wireless experience. Please note all delivery costs stated below include VAT for the UK, all other destinations exclude VAT** United Kingdom - Mainland The second main advantage is the target ID accuracy at depth. Although the Deus 1 is not known for its extreme depth, we feel that XP will have made up for this with their FMF in the DEUS 2 metal detector. It’s likely that modes such as “DEEP HC” (short for “Deep Highly Conductive”) will be incredible for detecting deep copper and silver coins. At Detect-Ed we are super keen to try this mode in search of some deep pre-decimal Australian coins! The Minelab Equinox is one of the best selling metal detectors on the market today. With its Mulit-IQ Technology and wide range of features, being light weight, and easy to use the Equinox is a great metal detector for the money. But is there something better?

XP DEUS II Factory Included Items:

WS6 MASTER (+WSA II or WSA II-XL): The WS6 has a graphic screen and virtually all the controls available on RC. Since the release of the DEUS in 2010, XP has now invented the world's first fully wireless simultaneous multi-frequencymetal detector...DeusII. The new DEUS 2 / II with FMF technology will perform well on land or in the sea, it will introduceyou to a new metal detecting exploring dimension, a deep, fast, super lightweight, fully waterproof to 20m, and a fully wireless metal detector! The DEUS 2 will have two styles of tones which you can switch between. Firstly the traditional PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) tones that DEUS users will know well and then there is the option of “Square” tones (square wave?) which are highly reminiscent of the Minelab CTX 3030 tones. We know that there are die hard fans of each tone type so it’s good to see an option on the DEUS 2. Once the three or indeed two main components are paired by simply entering a serial number, XP’s patented wireless protocol allows target signals generated by the search coil to be transmitted to either a built-in speaker or to the headphones without any delay. Not to be confused with Bluetooth technology & their ‘low latency’. This article will compare the most common features of both the XP Deus II and the Minelab Equinox 800. How Does The Deus II Compare to the Equinox?

Currently, there are no after market search coils available for the XP Deus II. I don’t expect to see any after market coils come on to the market for the Deus II. The original Deus never saw any after market coils developed. Most of XP’s technology is built into their search coils and this is a feature exclusive owned by XP. Which After Market Search Coils are Available for The Minelab Equinox? I see so many people posting comments on various forums and Facebook groups that all they seem to be find with Deus II is junk. Let me be clear about Deus II, you will dig your fair share of junk targets ( at first). You have to dig a fair share of these junk targets to get your ears tuned into what is junk and what isn’t. There are slight differences in the tones that you have to learn and listen for. The XY screen can help you learn those differences by presenting a visual but the XY display isn’t 100% full proof. Your hearing is what will help you make that decision to dig a target or not. The image below is a result of 2 hunts where I dug every target to understand what I was up against in the beginning. XP DEUS II Features:

The DEUS 2 comes standard with a highly durable fully waterproof housing rated to an unbelievably 20m deep underwater! The company markets the DEUS 2 not only as a land detector but also a diving detector and they’ve even made a dedicated “DIVE” mode which will work well in salt water environments! I’ve also done a few videos that are not necessarily for beginners but they go into detail in a couple of areas that are worth mentioning. The videos below go into details based on the following topics Uses FMF up to 40kHz – Good for highly mineralized ground conditions while hunting for gold. This program is set to all metal to get better depth. The XP Deus and The XP Deus II use what XP calls “Reactivity” which is also equivalent to the “Recovery Speed” on the Minelab Equinox. Does the XP Deus II have a faster recovery speed than the Equinox? Early tests and videos of side by side comparisons are showing that the Deus II has the advantage. The XP Deus has always been a really fast metal detector and it appears that XP has definitely improved what was already a very fast machine. Their proprietary use of Fast Multi-Frequency (FMF) appears to be giving them an edge over the Equinox. XP Deus Reactivity Chart Reactivity Number Waterproof coils 22.5cm (9’’)– 28cm (11’’) and 34x28 cm (13x11’’) 2D - IP 68 compliant - 20m / 66ft (the antenna provided is required when the coil is submerged)

As we mentioned earlier, the DEUS 2 has a veritable buffet of pre-set modes, 12 to be exact which XP claims will suit “all terrain in all conditions”. Uses Fast Multi Frequency (FMF) up to 40kHz – uses low and high frequencies. It’s great for all around use and good for beginners and seasoned experts. Better confidence on deep targets. Based on numerous tests that are now available on YouTube posted by several channels, the XP Deus II is edging out the Equinox in just about every test I’ve seen. In some cases the depth the Deus II is getting is really impressive while maintaining a good target ID at depth. If you are an original Deus owner, you will appreciate better target ID at depth with the Deus II. This was something the original Deus struggled with. Can You Eliminate Bottle Caps With The XP Deus II and Equinox?

Audio headphones developed and manufactured by XP in France, designed specifically to meet detecting requirements: no audio latency, automatic On/Off, sophisticated processor allowing the user to configure from the remote control. Choose the Fast and simultaneous multi-frequency programs or between 49 single frequencies from 4 to 45 kHz. The XP Deus II or XP Deus 2 is the latest metal detector from XP Metal Detectors. The Deus II comes fully loaded with new features and tools that can help anyone new or experienced find coins, jewelry, relics and more. Uses FMF up to 40kHz – FT stands for Full Tones. Similar setup as the program 2 but uses full tones and uses a Reactivity setting of 3 instead of 2.5. Designed for more experienced users. Works well in mineralized and trashy ground. A red plug is also included with the Deus 2 detector and should only be used when taking the detector diving. The red plug makes the DEUS 2 waterproof down to a very respectable 20m (66ft) underwater.

As an owner of the original Deus I am happy to report that the new Deus II is more stable, deeper, fully waterproof down to 66 feet, and multi-frequency! These are the features previous owners have asked for and XP Delivered. Plus, XP has added a bunch of audio features that allows the user to configure the metal detector the way they want to hear it. The Deus II is loaded with configuration options. Scott with his new XP Deus II You can even pair your XP MI 6 pinpointer to the new wireless headphones and get all of the sound from the pinpointer to come through wirelessly so that you can detect as quietly as possible. Historically speaking, Multi Frequency metal detectors are known to be some of the best beach metal detectors and we are certain XP will continue this trend with their new Deus 2.Battery life: Remote Control up to 25H - Headphones up to 17H - Coil up to 20H depending on programs and frequencies (see instruction manual) Choose the Fast and simultaneous Multi-Frequency programs or between 49 single frequencies from 4 to 45 kHz. If you plan to take the DEUS 2 diving there are wired Bone Conduction headphones available! These waterproof headphones will no doubt give great sound clarity underwater to the diver where other headphones are less clear. Uses 1 (Mono) frequency adjusts from 4 to 45kHz. Works in a single frequency. Good for EMI rejection, Use when in conditions where FMF is not suitable due to interference etc.
