About this deal

Space Wolves: This army is known for its blue-grey armor and fur-lined cloaks, which can be easily shaded with Drakenhof Nightshade. The wash adds depth to the armor and accentuates the texture of the fur, making the soldiers appear more rugged and battle-worn.

The remainder of my points will go into different stratagems depending on the matchup. Experimental Weapon is an interesting one, though it will increase the heat load on an already hot-running list. Less risky is Overcharged Cannon , which will let me fire the Sunfury at up to strength 14 if I’ve got the reactor room to take the risk. Finally, Martian Servitor Clades might be worth a look in the Extergimus, as it’ll let me push a little more aggressively and still have a decent chance of venting. It’s expensive, but could be a game-changer. Playing against Venator The one thing everyone discovers right away is that washing the whole model really doesn't work. It looks God-awful. Another thing is that the primary base coat should NOT be white, but rather, an off-white tinted blue, grey, or brown. It will be more realistic, and allow you to highlight with pure white. Finally using neat white, put a couple of spot highlights on the feet, around the top of the gorget, and on any other bits you want to make shine. I hit the outer parts of the chapter symbol and the eye lenses with Mephiston Red. They’re shaded a bit with Carroburg Crimson, then highlighted with Evil Sunz Scarlet. I’ll do the same shading/highlights on the aquila as well.Bair: As a Vulcanum player this makes me mad. This is differently better in my opinion than Twinned Machine Spirits. Not being able to share shields is a minor downside to being able to make combined shots for extra damage where you need it, flexibly throughout the game. In our How to Paint Everything series, we take a look how to paint well, everything, with a look at different techniques and approaches from different artists. Today we’re looking at the White Scars space marines. The detail work on the top carapace is pretty standard as well – a few different metallics with appropriate washes over them and the GW-standard parchment recipe – Rakarth Flesh, thinned Agrax, then Pallid Wych Flesh over top. I’m planning to put some more detailing on that once I come up with a name for the thing.

I started by priming the model in Wraithbone spray. As I mentioned above if i was to do this again I’d probably use Corax White instead, to reduce the number of layers of white in step 2. Step 1 Credit: Richyp Glaze all over with extremely thinned Guilliman Blue, about 1:4 glaze to Lahmian Medium (I understand this is an OOP color, Talassar Blue from the Contrast range would work as well, but probably thinned 1:6 due to the stronger color)

before the original scheduled date for this article someone spotted there were no White Scars painted for the article with a regular brush, so I rummaged through my bits box to mash up a White Scars-looking marine. Astra Militarum: As an army that relies heavily on infantry, Astra Militarum miniatures can benefit from the use of Drakenhof Nightshade to create depth and contrast on their uniforms. The wash can be applied to the folds of clothing and the crevices of helmets and weapons to create a weathered and battle-hardened appearance. Below are the paints I use for an Intercessor. If the model has any brass ammo components showing, I will also use Vallejo Model Color Old Gold 70.878 and wash with Nuln Oil.
