About this deal

Global prices have been estimated from similar-priced products. Boarding Patrol: Drukhari – Price Value & Savings Summary Ultimately, all of these are good values–assuming you were going to buy all of these models specifically. All of these are going to save you money over the retail price of the individual units sold separately. The question is whether you were going to buy all of these models. Some of the boxes are weird. The Adepta Sororitas is one of the best valued Combat Patrol boxes, but they’re also quirky. One Penitent Engine instead of two. Five Sisters Repentia instead of ten. Weird choices. Limited Durability: Fragility is going to be a real issue for the Dark Kin, as befitting their glass cannon playstyle. As toughness scales up to new heights elsewhere most of our units have stayed in a similar ballpark, and invulns better than 6+ are relatively rare here now. Careful play will reap better rewards. Those Eldar who’d hidden away inside the Webway survived the psychic apocalypse – but found themselves changed. While the Webway had offered some protection from Slaanesh, the newly formed Chaos God still had a claim on their souls, and the Aeldari living in Commorragh soon began to find themselves diminished. That is, until they realised that they could substitute the suffering of others for their own, drawing power from the pain they inflicted – and thus their sadistic society was born. I assume the Raider should carry the Kabalites and Archon. Any reason to take them out of it unless it's about to blow up?

Also, can we talk about how flavorless some of these Combat Patrols are? Look specifically at the Space Marine sets: the Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, and Deathwatch could all be interchangeable, except for those upgrade sprues. Why don’t the Dark Angels have anything that could be either Deathwing or Ravenwing? Why don’t the Blood Angels have Death Company or Sanguinary Guard? Why don’t the Space Wolves have… wolves? It really seems like you’re just buying worse value Space Marine Combat Patrols.Deepstriking Vehicles: As if to combat the aforementioned durability concerns, Drukhari vehicles now come with Deepstrike built into their data sheets. This is a MASSIVE change, allowing for carefully timed beta-strikes out of the sky to ensure you get to fight on your terms.

Each Combat Patrol is supposed to be balanced against all the others. That might be hard to believe when looking at the contents of the Adeptus Custodes box set, as the boys in gold are notoriously hard! I've been building and painting 40k for over a year but have not yet played a game. My FLGS is running a beginner-friendly Combat Patrol league later this year and I'm AMPED to put my Drukhari on the table and roll some dice. The Ravager lets you blow up enemy targets from long range while your Kabalite Warriors zip around in the Raider , claiming objectives. The Archon and the Incubi offer a huge threat in close combat, giving you a nice, rounded army. Even better, it can be built from the contents of the Combat Patrol: Drukhari box. Ravager– In a shift towards high toughness and reduced ap the Ravager continues to bring heavy precision shooting that the Dark Kin are going to need. The Raider and Ravager both have Deep Strike. Do I want to use it? For which/both? If I start with the Kabalites/Archon embarked and have both boats in reserve, that leaves only the Incubi on the board--too risky? The main difference between the two comes in when you’re comparing the unit slots available, and with the Alliance of Agony stratagem – which allows you to pay 1CP to get Warlord traits on both the Succubus and the Haemonculus in a Realspace Raid. As you write lists and try things out you’ll find which works best for you, but either option is valid and both make Drukhari army-building very flexible.

Lelith Hesperax– the Queen of Blades finally has a statline to match her reputation, easily capable of dealing a withering amount of damage to enemy infantry and helping you get the best out of an attached Wych squad. But let’s start with the basics and take the Combat Patrol box. In it, you get a Ravager, Raider, 10 Warriors, Incubi, and an Archon. A nice little starter set as it gets you a troop option, a heavy support tank, a transport, a badass murder hobo unit, and a default HQ choice that isn’t a special Character. This comes out to be a pretty nice choice and if you add in upgrades would run a decent amount to the total. In fact – I think you end up getting two of these boxes to help shore up your army and create a nice base to build off of. Plan your army– You’ll want to think about what sort of list you want to start with before you start buying anything: Do you want the mobile ranged firepower of the Kabals, the lightning-fast melee threat of the Wych Cults, or the deceptively-durable threat of the Haemonculus Covens? Or do you want to try to leverage the flexibility that comes with bringing a bit of each? These are all perfectly fine ways to get started.Ah, the Blood Angels– noble and civilised sons of Sanguinius, most handsome, tragic, star-crossed and pretty of all the Emperor’s ‘Primarch’ sons. These renaissance Italy-themed space marines are among the most storied and popular chapters of the Adeptus Astartes. But with the few exceptions of the very bottom boxes, especially that Grey Knights box, I think all of them are pretty solid. Ultimately, this is a decent Drukhari force. You get the best of both worlds – melee and shooting options galore. Infantry and specialists rolled into one. Wyches can shoot and sit on objectives, whilst the Succubus and Incubi can go in for the kill and really fudge your foes up. While the Drukhari are a powerful and satisfying army to play with and against (but especially with), they have a unique, complex, and fiddly army composition – and as such, newcomers to Warhammer 40k should be wary. Much of the complexity comes in managing the Drukhari’s three distinct subfactions: Kabals, Haemonculus Covens, and Wych Cults. Cult Speed is the name of the game here. The Succubus and her retinue of Bloodbrides take the Venom , the larger unit of Wyches takes the Raider, and with support from the Hellions, you’ll wipe out your enemy before they even know what hit them.

If you want to play Drukhari, you’re going to need to work out which of the three sub-factions you want to lead with. While you’ll inevitably end up using all three, we’d recommend that you start with your favourite, and slowly build out your force to include the others. Launch your own realspace raid with Combat Patrol: Drukhari! The contents of this set have been specifically chosen to provide you with an ideal Drukhari force for Combat Patrol-sized games – approximately 25 Power Level's worth of models. There’s very little to criticize about this box. However, if one was to make a change, swapping the Incubi for some Scourges could make for a more balanced army. Some of the other Boarding Patrols we’ve seen both released and teased have frequently contained up-to-date miniatures from the last few years or even brand-new models altogether, perhaps with an older kit included. On this front, when compared to the other sets, the Drukhari box looks particularly poor.Well, let’s start with the story of how the Dark Kin came to be, which began a long time ago, before thebirth of Slaanesh. GW has used two methods to attempt to balance the boxes against one another. First, although the models in the box set may have many weapon options, there’s a particular loadout you’re supposed to equip your models with. Starting a Wych Cult or a Haemonculus Coven is a slightly fiddlier affair. Neither of these sub-factions has their own starter box, so you’re going to have to buy everything individually, which can make collecting these armies a more expensive prospect. That said, if you wanted to get started with a Wych Cults force, we recommend starting with a box of Wyches, a Succubus HQ character, two Venom transports, and a squad of Reaver jetbikes. Each subfaction has access to its own unique HQ and Troops units, Relics, and subfaction traits called ‘Obsessions’. You can’t mix the subfactions within a single detachment, or you losethosespecial rules.
