Real-world tests showed that this cleaner was excellent: perfect cleaning to the edges, clean sweeps on carpet and hard floors and pet hair removed with no issue. Wet and dry vacuums are obviously designed to vacuum up wet and dry materials. But some are more suited for household dust, spills and cleaning carpets, while others are better at handling tough dirt and large volumes of water. One reality of this machine is that, if you have a completely dry mess on your floor, then you'll want to start out with a completely dry roller brush. Otherwise, you risk spreading grime or residue onto your carpet. Another potential downside is that the instruction manual doesn't list possible errors, so if you the machine tells you there is one (in our case, we hadn't snapped the brush roll guard, so it was loose), you might have to scratch your head a bit to figure out what's going on. For the most part though, we think the Bissell CrossWave X7 offers a thoughtful and useful blend of technology and manual features to suit users who prefer to be a bit more hands-on. The HL5 Pet is a smart-looking vacuum cleaner with a bold blue and yellow finish. There are also some useful design details, including a clear porthole in the top of the bin to show how full the vacuum is while cleaning.
The main difference with this model and previous Dyson air purifiers is the Cone Aerodynamics airflow system, which can project clean air more than 10 metres. Using the Coanda effect, where two streams of air meet over a smooth surface, the Big+Quiet can deliver a powerful jet of air with minimum noise. It’s the same principal that powers the smaller Dyson Pure Cool Me. The dry capacity is a reliable 15 litres, and you get a respectable 9 litres wet capacity too. It’s all powered by a capable 1,060 Watt motor and kept clean with one of Henry’s HepaFlo filter bags. The suction hose is a generous 2.4m, so you can reach the ceiling when necessary. Shark has used its DuoClean tech on the floor head: it has a soft roller for hard floors and a brush roll for carpets. It’s a smart design, as you don’t have to swap floor heads ever, and it’s Anti Hair Wrap: genuinely, we have never managed to clog this floor head with hair. Its large size means it can be awkward to maneuver, but that's to be expected for the capacity. On a similar note, it is a noisy machine, but we thought the noise level was reasonable given its power. We think the 16-gallon size is perfect for households with regular indoor and outdoor clean-up needs, and it's also available in 12- and 20-gallon models, too.In addition to its efficient cleaning, it has a digital display that shows how much battery life is remaining. During our testing, we used roughly 30 percent of the battery power, which gives us confidence that it would comfortably last for most home clean-up tasks. There's also an app that allows for some control of the machine, but we were not able to connect with it during the lab testing because of 5G limitations. With several attachments suited for different surfaces and functions, like a floor brush, two extension wands, and a crevice nozzle, you'll be well-equipped for wet and dry clean-up throughout your home. The large canister is easy to empty, and it's on wheels so you can roll it from job to job. Given it's durability and functionality, we thought it would be an especially good tool to have on hand in a garage or shop, or for anyone who does lots of of DIY projects around the home. It also has a blower for dust and debris, too. Really, there's not much we'd change about this machine, although we did note that a longer cord could be helpful.

I got hold of their 12 litre Buddy II vacuum cleaner and think it’s one of the best budget options available right now. Attachments: Most vacs will include at least a few of these, and while they may seem like unnecessary extras, they can absolutely come in handy depending on the job. For awkward places and hard-to-reach heights, it’s a huge help, and a powerful suction brush tool is particularly perfect for pet hair. The Vacmaster Respira has a single suction mode, although the button on the side lets you switch the floor roller speed between Hard Floor (labelled as “I”) and carpet (labelled as “II”). It’s a little cheap-looking, but that’s a minor complaint. If there’s too much suction to move the vacuum cleaner – as I found on short-pile carpet – then there’s an air vent that can be opened to reduce suction pressure. Stanley made it easy to clean from far away, too, with a 10-foot range, thanks to an included hose and its attachments, including a crevice nozzle for hard-to-reach areas of your home. This is a different beast altogether compared with the high capacity wet and dry vacuum cleaners on the rest of my list. This is much more suited to being thrown in a van and taken with you, or when you can’t rely on mains power. It takes one of Makita’s excellent LXT batteries for wet and dry vacuuming wherever you need it.When we tried it on carpeting in our lab, it handled a mess of coffee grounds and cereal in a jaw-dropping 21 seconds. We were also impressed by how it only took a few minutes for hard floors to dry after use—although a few subtle streaks were visible. The other potential hiccups we noted (its noisy operation, and how the cord could get in the way) felt especially minor compared to the overall powerful performance. This is an easy-to-use machine that lives up to its ambitious promise of smoothly handling multiple types of cleaning. This excellent vac rushes head-on into gross spills and messes, with the strength of 15KPa suction and a 180-degree rotating head to make sure you get every last bit. What hasn’t changed is performance, and the Shark Stratos Pet Pro Anti Hair Wrap Plus Anti-Odour Upright Vacuum NZ860UKT is hugely powerful, coming in at 268AW. That’s not the most powerful we’ve seen (the Henry has more suction), but the NZ860UKT doesn’t need quite as much power, as its floor head agitates dirt for removal. It works brilliantly: on hard floors, carpets and with pet hair, the NZ860UKT aced every single test. Our one minor complaint is that the bin can take a bit of shaking to get everything out of it.
