About this deal

MacOS users: from October 16, 2018 Jabra Direct 2.0 (version 4.x or newer) replaces Suite for Mac (version 2.x or earlier). You’re working in the home or office more than ever before, more virtual meetings, Zoom sessions conference calls. Using every platform known to the human race, the kids interrupting, dogs barking or in my case snoring loudly. You are trying to listen to all your team members whilst keeping the world around you as silent as possible, the virtual work environment has become the norm but are you prepared? Are you still using your old headset or like me using the headphones that came with your phone. It might be time to get the right tool for the job, so we reached out to our friends at Jabra and decided to take the Jabra Evolve2 40 for a test drive. We found the build quality to be a bit more robust than the original Evolve 40. That's not to say that the older one was flimsy, but the Evolve2 just feels like it has a bit more substance to it. The ear cups are made from memory foam for a snugger fit. While this might sound like it could get uncomfortable after a while, we found it was actually an improvement on other corded headsets we've used in the past.

Another feature iTWire really loved was the red busy lamp. When you are on a call or otherwise using the headset, the lamp will illuminate so your co-workers know you are “on-air,” so to speak. This is a great inclusion, with this writersuffering many times in the past from well-meaning colleagues shouting “are you on a call?” while wearing headphones over the years. The Evolve2 40’s microphone was just as excellent. It has three categorised microphones integrated into the boom arm. Also, the Evolve2 40 utilises the Jabra SafeTone for its user hearing protection. Plus, it comes with a 2-year warranty for convenience. Hands on with the Jabra Evolve2 40 During trials, we found that this feature works extremely well. It’s easier to manage than pressing a button, so you can guarantee that you’ve muted the headset. Basically, it’s a great way to prevent embarrassing moments while you’re still on a call.

Now, we’re getting more hands-on with the headset in this part of the Jabra Evolve2 40 review. Let’s start with setting up the headset. Notice: Must be enabled in Jabra Direct under General Setting. Jabra Evolve 40 and 80 must be upgraded to firmware version 2.0 or newer (available soon) to support Jabra Intelligent Call Transfer. So instead of setting new names on previous models, the company planned then crafted the Evolve2 series. With that, every element of the Evolve2 40 was re-designed, and its new architecture feels more contemporary than its predecessors. Finally, the Evolve2 40 comes with a a busy light on the side of the headset. This automatically switches on when you are on a call. However, it can also be turned on manually at any time, so even if you're not on a call, colleagues will know you don't want to be disturbed.

The headphones are self-adjusting and rotatable and integrate memory foam cushions for comfort and adaptation. Its new and pioneering design adapts naturally to the contour of the ears and offers a noise reduction of up to 48%.

This layout is necessary to guarantee that your voice comes out clearly. When we tried it, there weren’t instances where we heard loud, electronic-sounding tones that are common in most corded headsets. Fixed: Jabra Direct would become unresponsive in certain setup scenarios with Jabra PanaCast 50 on macOS The Evolve2 40’s ear cups are crafted using memory foam to give you a completely snug fit. While it may sound like something that’ll get uncomfortable at some point, it won’t. It’s an enhancement on other corded headsets we’ve utilised before. During our tests, it delivered high-quality audio while excellently cancelling noise. What makes it better is that it performs impressively and is slightly cheaper than other models under the same series. If it’s time for an upgrade or you want to bring some professionalism into your working environment, the Jabra Evolve2 40 are definitely worth a look.

Get more productive
