About this deal

She reminds me of one of the know-all kids that we all remember from our school days, muscling in on every discussion because she read some Wikipedia article that makes her an insta-expert on everything and anything. Please . . . His expression is unreadable, but his meaning is clear. With one hand, he points at his feet. His fingers whiter than I remember.

The group escapes the prison. Ptolemus kills Ara, and tries to kill Mare. Shade teleports in front of her and saves her. He dies, though, which is hella sad. Elara is also killed, which is not so sad. The electrifying next installment in the Red Queen series escalates the struggle between the growing rebel army and the blood-segregated world they’ve always known—and pits Mare against the darkness that has grown in her soul. I found this novel much better than the first one as it seemed much more enticing and develops your understanding of Mare’s world. It even brings you much closer to her character. I think Red Queen (the first in the series) was more to show what this new found world was like and how Mare fit into it, but Glass Sword was much more individualistic and presents Mare as a much stronger character. After reading Red Queen almost a year ago, I impatiently awaited the sequel, but I was also apprehensive. Would it live up to the first book? It most certainly did! The entire story was like watching an action movie. No boring lulls in the middle of the story, no dull scenes slowing the narrative down. At the prison, Mare, Cal, Farley, Kilorn, and the newbloods who chose to go storm the prison. Mare goes especially over the top and kills silver guards who were praying for mercy but Mare says "lightning has no mercy" and kills them. This damaged her relationship with Cal, so he did not help Mare with his fire. At the prison, they kill the queen but Shade is killed by Ptolemus and Mare goes crazy on the flight home making her friends mad.

Lucas Samos: Evangeline's cousin who, like her, holds the power of magnetic manipulation. He is one of the few Silvers whom Mare befriends and trusts with certainty.

They literally fawn over her like she's this amazing, self-sacrificing, pure-to-the-bone heroine. How (honestly, I want to know) does no one notice that all she does is A) murder people or B) force them into her army. It was also revealed that Elara took away Maven's love for his brother and father when he was a small child. When Maven started to have nightmares that caused him to cry at night, she took away his ability to dream. When Maven developed feelings for Mare, Elara tried repeatedly take them away as well, but without success, as had happened with Thomas before. Maven had a special type of love for Mare, one that could not be removed. And you can throw a hundred things Maven did in my face and tell me I can't explain all of that away. At the palace, among the nobility, Mare struggles to become a proper lady while maintaining her cover, juggling the Scarlet Guard, and contending with her growing feelings for both princes. Her main source of comfort are her lessons with Julian Jacos, a singer and the brother to the deceased former queen, Coriane Jacos. He helps her learn more about her abilities while providing her a place to be herself without the watchful eyes of the cameras. Now maybe you can think this is just wishful thinking. Your reaction to my prediction is probably this:The group escapes the island by plane. They plan to find the newbloods on the list before Maven does. Maven is still going on a killing spree in an attempt to draw Mare and the others out. He leaves notes for Mare after killing a newblood’s family, including a baby. Dark. He tells her that he’ll stop if she turns herself in. Mare refuses to do so, because why would she do that?! Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever? Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors.

Diana Farley: A captain of the Scarlet Guard who leads them in the campaigns against the Silvers. She is strongly dedicated to the cause. However, Grand Forks Herald 's Cassidy Anderson stated "Ultimately, this book was over-hyped. It's still a fun read as long as you are not looking for anything with a lot of depth or meaning to it." [9] The Christian Science Monitor described the book as a dystopian novel. [10] I didn't like this person at all in the first book, and now I'm thinking I should read one of the novellas to get more of this character.
