About this deal

If you want the same whisky the world over, time and time again, you will find yourselves uninvited to my parties. (Look, yes it’s correct I don’t have parties, I have a 2-year-old kid and no social life, but my point still stands.) I enjoy variety in my drinks: the more, the better. The more intellectual stimulation, the more variables, the more genuine a story the better. Irrespective of what I type, many of you – those hardcore GlenDronach fans especially – will have already made up their minds on this whisky. You’ll almost definitely say it wasn’t as good as the original from several years ago, and that’s fine. But it’s not my point today. We deliver to a number of international destinations including the USA. Please use the 'Change Location' link above for an estimate in your local currency or find out more about international delivery On the nose: Huge notes of dried sultanas, dried oranges, Tiramisu. Golden syrup, heather honey, it’s heady stuff indeed. Hazelnut praline, dark chocolate.

Sweet sherry essence: dark fruit, holiday cake spice, malt, graham, cocoa, dark fruit oil, nuts and some vanilla and citrus. At the end of the day it’s a fun full-bodied whisky that has a lot to offer and would love to have in my glass far more often than I currently do… guess I’ll need to remedy that. And, for what it’s worth, it’s a good follow-up to the original and worthy of the label. There’s nothing so much that saps the joy out of life like the word consistency. It’s a dreadful, Coca Cola-esque word. Blending whisky for consistency is the Middle-England, Daily Express-reading, Nissan Qashqai-driving, Nigel Farage-voting philosophy of the whisky world. We want things how they were, just like the last time, no changing things, please. We yearn for yesteryear, not how they could possibly be. It’s a gorgeous single malt. It’s a lovely, lovely whisky indeed. This is warming, classy, charming – and should appeal to a broad spectrum of drinkers. Is it the same as the last? No. Is it better? Don’t care, can’t remember. This is a hoot. Togouchi Japanese Whisky Buy Togouchi Whisky Online We have a selection of Japanese Whisky produced at the Chugoku Jozo Distillery under the brand name Togouchi. This whisky is rare to find and is very sought after with collectors of Japanese whisky. You can now buy Togouchi Japanese Whisky online at The Whisky Company. For gift wrapping and engraving services please visit https://www.thewhiskycompany.com.au/engraving-gift-wrapping/ As a result retail prices have risen, sometimes quite dramatically. That’s partly due to pricing policy by the distillery, but also because retail outlets realised they could ask higher prices for GlenDronach that was bottled in certain years — a regretful side-effect of this article. Current State of GlenDronach Let’s just dive in immediately, shall we? There’s a causality between the mothballing of GlenDronach and the true age of their age statement whiskies. The distillery was closed from 1996 until 2001, and that gap of six years forces GlenDronach to use older whisky than necessary. Take a long hard look at the infographic below and see for yourself. In flavour, the expression offers sumptuous notes of dark fruits, rich chocolate and manuka honey with an enveloping, memorable finish worthy of this monumental malt’s history. This luxuriously sherried Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is bottled at 46% ABV, and natural in colour. Our Tasting Notes GlenDronach Revival was the perfect name for a brand that completely reinvented itself under the guidance of Billy Walker. As the brand matured and eventually sold to Brown-Forman, the quality of the distillery’s products remains a talking point despite what I think has been a relatively consistent product line over the past five years. GlenDronach Revival is a bit unbalanced with a bit too much sherry dominance for my preferences and I found just a touch of rubber on the nose of this release. With that said, it’s a popular release among whisky fans for a reason and will satisfy the craving for lovers of heavily sherried whisky. This madness was short lived, thankfully, because in 2008 The BenRiach Distillery Co Ltd acquired GlenDronach from Pernod Ricard. The new ownership brought GlenDronach under independent ownership for the first time in almost half a century and more importantly, brought it under stewardship of Billy Walker, one of the most exciting whisky makers of our time. Glencairn The Glencairn Whisky Glass is a revolutionary whisky glass that really lets you savor the taste and complexity of fine whisky. The glass is great to use for any of your ‘wee nippy sweeties’ whether it be Single Malt Whiskies, Irish Whiskies, or even single barrel bourbons. With the tapered mouth, you are able to really smell all of the nuances the whisky has to offer. Any malt advocate will love this glass! Champagne, Brandy, Wine… each has its own glass. Yet whisky, the worlds most complex spirit can be found served in anything from hiball tumblers to Paris goblets. It’s a bit like pouring your vintage champagne into a pint tumbler or your XO brandy into a shot glass! Whisky is a drink to be savoured. Time spent enjoying the flavours on the nose are equally important as those on the palate. Raymond Davidson decided it was about time someone designed a proper whisky glass… The perfect glass for whisky was created and left to mature for some twenty years at the bottom of a filing cabinet. After adequate maturation, his sons Paul and Scott decided to take his design to the people who know best…… A resurrection of the original 15 Year Old “100% Sherry Casks” that was hugely popular in the 1990s, the GlenDronach 15 Year Old Revival is bottled at 46%, non-chill filtered and of natural colour. It’s fully matured in Oloroso sherry puncheons, giving it a deep gold colour with a lovely mahogany heart. These high quality sherry casks are vital in producing an incredible concentration of aromas and flavours including chocolate orange, raisins, dates, coffee and treacle. Adding to this, the mashing water for GlenDronach comes from the Balnoon Burn, an underground water source high in mineral content, which leads to a full-bodied whisky that is rich in flavour.Previous batch tasted... Deep burnished copper colour. An amazing sherry influenced bouquet, instantly seduces with a powerful fresh honey and toast lift; develops heavier fruit marmalade-like scents emerge with an amalgam of spices... Time in the glass yields richer notes of nougat and caramel. Almost as generous on the palate; decadent malt - richly infused with honey and spice, the initial sweet burst beautifully counterpointed by drying oak. Finishes long and warming with delicate dried apricot and spice. A must try - even if just to experience the remarkable aromatics. 94 points

The GlenDronach is one of the more beloved, though still relatively unfamiliar, names in Scotch whisky. Nearing its 200th anniversary, the distillery has suffered some of the more common indignities in recent whisky history. Mothballed in 1996, it was renovated and resumed a full production schedule in 2002. In the last 20 years the property has changed hands multiple times, most recently falling under the ownership of the American bourbon titan Brown-Forman and its first foray into the realm of Scotland’s whisky scene.
