About this deal

Dune's torso and legs display extensive detail too. The metallic silver mail covering her chest appears excellent, complemented by dark blue armour which continues across the legs. Cara Dune carries an enormous heavy blaster onscreen and I think this accessory could have been improved, although Din Djarin's beskar spear and Amban sniper rifle are splendid. Inside the box are bags numbered from 1 to 9. Strangely my bag 4 had a bit of a small tear in it, but thankfully no pieces were missing. Moff Gideon’s minifigure includes a two-coloured cape and all the printing on the torso needed to accurately capture his appearance, combined with two well-realised expressions on a dual-moulded head.

This vessel closely resembles the Arquitens-class Command Cruiser, integrating an identical notch towards the prow. The shape here looks reasonable and I welcome this mixture of light and dark bluish grey colours. However, several blue Technic pins are clearly visible inside the notch and these look awful, which is particularly disappointing because they could easily have been concealed behind tiles. There aren’t too many other details but I suppose that was necessary to prevent the limited space from becoming overcrowded. As such, there is a fair bit of space to pose minifigures and act out scenes from the show.I will say, they don't all look the same, although, they are known to have remakes with newer designs. (Such as the TIE Fighter or X-Wing), but they do have similar colour schemes, so I understand where you are coming from. " The torso has the same printed details as the shoulder armour, which means that you could have the figure without the shoulder armour if you wish. Starship features bridge that doubles as handle for flying, 2 rotating turrets and hatch to access cabin Further, it is the subtle extra lift in that shoulder pad piece, combined with the placement of the eyes on the helmet slightly higher than that of a regular minifigure’s eyeline (put the helmet on any other head, and their eyes won’t reach the holes) that gives the Dark Trooper minifigure extra menace in its appearance, and some extra height where otherwise the LEGO Star Wars design team don’t like to offer it.

They might look a bit large and the spring-loaded missile tails are a bit obtrusive to the overall design, but on the whole it doesn’t look too bad and adds quite a bit of playability. However, several spots in the interior cannot hold figures when the ship cover is closed, due to the height limitations. This is slightly disappointing but still understandable, as preserving the correct external shape is more important to me than usable interior space. Keepability: 4/5 – this set is worth keeping, especially for fans of the Mandalorian or Star Wars ships in general. It certainly looks good on display.

For what it is as a vehicle, it doesn’t open too many areas for play on the exterior, but the designers have still worked in a couple of fun ways to interact with the model – including the storage hangar for the TIE Fighters towards the rear of the ship, and a launch mechanism built into the front so as to send them out into space. Somewhat unfortunately, you have to have the panels of the ship open so as to activate that feature. The engine pods are large cylinders built using round panel pieces. 4×4 trans light blue radar dishes are used for the thruster glow, while there are some small greebling details around. That’s really the only compromise to an exterior design that has also intelligently built the support handle to carry the whole thing around into the bridge of the ship. Weighted slightly towards the front end, though, and not the lightest of LEGO Star Wars ships, it may activate some new muscles in an average AFOL’s arm, and require two hands for younger builders to carry around.

The next minifigure is exclusive, and is none other than Moff Gideon himself. His head print looks accurate, but his torso print design is surprisingly simple and the legs are unprinted. And, with the cover open, there’s enough space to recreate iconic scenes from the Mandalorian season finale!
