About this deal

Of course, Bluetooth is used for signal transmission, namely a Bluetooth module from Qualcomm that complies with Bluetooth 5.1 and, among other things, also offers the codec aptX HD for signal transmission with up to 24 bits and 48 kHz. Of course, this requires that the source device also has the corresponding capabilities. Alternatively, the lossy codecs SBC and AAC are also available. The bottom half headband is made of the same material and the ear cups are on hinges which means they aren't too tight on the ears, working nicely with the contours of my head. The top half of the heaband and the inner part of the cups are coated in a soft faux leather. But it makes sense, since KEF already has the true wireless Mu3 earbuds and an over-ear pair would make the whole family complete. But they have to compete with brands like Bose, Sennheiser, and Sony, which all have useful features, great noise-cancelling, and sound quality that’s right out of the top drawer. KEF Mu7 specifications Specifications KEF is a stunning stalwart of the Hi-Fi world, offering a broad range of speakers for those who want to hear music as it is meant to be heard: loud and in crystal clear clarity.

KEF has put its head above the parapet and produced a pair of true wireless earbuds that can be considered worthy rivals to the Apple AirPods Pro. However, we have some reservations about the call quality, and while nothing about the performance stands out as being a negative, the Mu3 can’t quite match the sonic ability of the class-leading rivals at this level from the likes of Bose and Sony.At the beginning of the corona crisis, after a long KEF break, I was able to test a pair of networked speakers from the LSX series and was very impressed. Their sound is clear and unexcited up to medium volumes, and the right atmosphere only comes about when you let them get loud.

However, a couple of the features we’ve come to expect from premium wireless headphones like the KEFs are missing. The KEF Mu7 Wireless Headphones score a big plus point for their sound, which is extremely well-balanced and rich in detail, but, compared to many others in this class, a little restrained. However, this is an immense advantage, because it ensures relaxed music listening even over many hours, the ear is not unduly stressed. For pumping bass lines, you should probably look elsewhere; with the KEF Mu7 Wireless Headphones, music should rather be presented in an unadulterated and precise way, and it is precisely this promise of the English specialist that the headphones can keep with flying colours. The headphones themselves are nestled neatly in the middle and look fantastic. The brushed aluminium of the egg-shaped ear cups is sleek and ridiculously smooth to the touch. Each earcup has a couple of cutaways near the top that act as mic openings. The right earcup also has a smaller mic opening towards the bottom, and there’s also a little LED down here too - it lets you know what’s what regarding charging, pairing, power status and so on.

So it's not surprising that longer pressure on the touchpad calls up Siri or the Google Assistant, depending on the smartphone.

The KEF Mu7 use Bluetooth 5.1 to connect to your devices and it's very fast and easy to get up and running. Interestingly, KEF has decided to not offer an accompanying app to tweak levels and enhance the audio. For example, we can report on software updates, new accessories and new games or make long-term judgments. Of course, there’s a bit more to these KEF than a high-sheen, smooth and rather self-consciously mature presentation. Five minutes in the company of a TIDAL-derived stream of Cornflake Girl by Tori Amos allows the Mu7 to explain a lot of what they’re all about – and a lot is a lot of what they’ve got. First of all, we would like to emphasise a point that we have already praised, namely the really very high wearing comfort that the KEF Mu7 Wireless Headphones offer. Even after hours of use, we didn’t find the headphones annoying, which has been the case with many other models. Of course, it takes a little time to get to grips with all the possibilities, but within a very short time you will have all the functions of the KEF Mu7 under control. Once again no appWe have already described the design as extremely successful, but we would like to emphasise this again here. It’s clear that KEF’s Mu7 Wireless Headphones are aimed at a target group that prefers elegance and wants a stylish daily companion. They do offer high-res, though, so if the tunes you are listening to are mastered in SBC, AAC, aptX or aptX HD codecs, the you can get up to 24 bit audio (more so if you use the accompanying cable and a DAC). There is usually a caveat that you have to turn ANC off to get that sort of battery life but this is EVEN with Bluetooth and ANC on. It's impressive stuff. According to KEF, a technology called "Clear Voice Capture" helps to acoustically separate the voice from ambient noise and at the same time reduce street or office noise. For telephone calls and video calls, the microphones themselves ensure the best voice quality, because they are so-called cVc microphones (Clear Voice Capture), which isolate the user’s voice and minimise all other noise. Crystal-clear conversations are thus guaranteed, regardless of the environment. Bluetooth with aptX HD or cable for hi-res audio
