Broadwell, Josh (June 3, 2022). "Grab God of War on GeForce Now before it leaves the platform for good". PCGamesN . Retrieved July 12, 2022. a b c d e f Tailby, Stephen (October 7, 2021). The single-player aspect can be quite monotonous and repetitive, but this game is clearly most at home in co-op multiplayer. The levels are not too different between single and multiplayer but you need that interactivity with someone else when playing KeyWe to elevate it from being just another puzzler to the fun game that it is at heart. Penguin Isle gives you a buildable island filled with penguins right at your fingertips. Interact with them as much as you like by upgrading amenities, hatching more penguins, and adding more arctic animals to keep them all happy.

It is, however, very much a co-op game and almost impossible to play in single player. If you don't have another kiwi bud to hand, your options are either to hotswap between the two kiwis yourself, or pilot them both at the same time, neither of which is at all practical. That's fine; it is primarily a co-op game after all, much like It Takes Two or A Way Out. Less fine is that it doesn't appear to have in-game voice chat if you're playing online. Talking isn't necessary in all co-op games (look at Journey, for example) but some kind of direct communication is definitely necessary for KeyWe. You'll often have to do things like jump on different keys at the same time, and experiments with timed squawks were unhelpful. Couch co-op is definfitely the optimum way to play. I’m also a huge fan of the mini-games to the point where, without them, I wouldn’t score KeyWe as highly. There are nine “overtime shift” activities, which run the gamut from a rhythm game to a side-scrolling platformer to a snowball fight with slingshots. My two favorites, Bubble Wrap Testing and Cashing Out, could be the basis for something bigger. The former is a race to pop bubble wrap (with bonus points awarded to different-sized bubbles at different times), and the latter is a bit of edutainment in which you’ll deposit coins worth varying amounts of money so they correctly add up to a specified total. Each amenity produces gold and you can upgrade them allowing for automatic production, which means more time to stare lovingly at penguins wearing different hats instead of tapping each construct every few seconds. The penguins are just absolutely adorable. Highly recommended.
