According to a Mr. Men treasury released in 2015, Adam Hargreaves finds him the hardest character to draw. He says, "Even though he is the simplest, I find Mr. Happy the most difficult. There are less breaks in the outline so I have to draw a longer perfect circular line to get him right. I sort of work from the outside inwards, always starting at the top, with the hat if they had one, and then draw the outline leaving gaps for the arms and legs and their face and expression come last". This was mentioned again in the Mr. Men 50th Anniversary Special His first encounter with the Mr. Happy books happened to be... not a book. In search of valentines, he saw a box of Mr./Little Miss valentines, with smiley on the front, and was instantly smitten. I asked if he had seen the books at his school, and he replied no. He just wanted them because of that happy face! So I got the valentines for him and promptly got some of these books for him. In the 2008 TV series, The Mr. Men Show, Little Miss Scary kept her looks, except one of her spikes is gone and Miss Scary is darker red. She is a regular character. She loves fear, has her own television show, Miss Scary's Late Night Scare Fest, and is assisted by Mr. Bounce. Her house is a haunted house in the middle of the woods. Miss Scary has a collection of assorted masks (which are modified in season two) which she uses to scare the other Mr. Men and Little Misses, although they can frighten her as well. Miss Scary has a scary snore (as seen in the episode, "Sleep"). Little Miss Scary snorts when Miss Scary laughs. Miss Scary is also a fairy in some episodes. In the US and UK versions, Miss Scary is voiced by Susan Balboni and Jo Wyatt (Series 1) and Alex Kelly (Series 2). Yet plenty of Mr Men merchandise isn’t aimed at children – in recent years there’s been everything from Mr Grumpy tea towels to 2019’s four Spice Girls stories about Little Misses Ginger, Baby, Scary and Sporty (Exley admits that Adam didn’t know who the pop group were before drawing their characters). A 2018 study by Farshore titled “Media Use and Attitudes” found 51 per cent of those who bought Mr Men books in 2017 did so because of “fond memories of reading them as children”. There is an enormous nostalgia market for the brand, which blossomed when the entertainment group Chorion bought the rights.His portrait appears in the Hippo, Potto and Mouse book Potto Finds a Job, which is another Roger Hargreaves book series.

He has never been seen wearing this cap in any media past the 1980's.
In 'Reptiles', Little Miss Sunshine had a pink lizard for a pet called Pinky. She also has a pet poodle shown in 'Trees'. Mr. Miserable stayed in Happyland for a while, and Mr. Happy helped him to become even happier. Mr. Miserable learned that there was always something to smile about, even in the darkest of times. Overtime, Mr. Miserable starts becoming less sad and more happy, when he eventually becomes just as happy as Mr. Happy, and laughing a lot with him. And he never forgot the kindness of Mr. Happy, the man who taught him how to be happy. This story ends with a message to tell the reader that if they are ever sad, to simply turn up the corners of their mouth. Little Miss Pretty has a blue body, a yellow nose, curly yellow hair, and pink cheeks. Miss Pretty wears silver shoes, gloves, a silver bow, and carries a matching handbag.
