You’ll want to either give it more curing time, bake the object, or try again. Are All Mod Podge Dishwasher Safe? All in all, it takes 28 days for your Mod Podge to cure. The weather and humidity can impact the amount of time it takes. If you don’t want to wait nearly a month, you can always bake the Mod Podge to drastically speed up the curing time. Does Mod Podge Make Things Waterproof? It feels dry within an hour, but I wouldn’t hang up a project or use it until it’s been dry for 24 hours. For Hard Coat, the recommended dry time is 72 hours. If it’s completely dry, the answer is “sort of.” You are going to have to wet the Podge and scrape it off. Mod Podge is tough. It’s a highly effective alternative to dishwasher-safe mod podge. It works in a two-part system and is available in a clear plastic bottle. The Fast-Drying Acrylic Sealer also has an applicator brush to ensure easier application.

You still won’t want to touch the Mod Podge to your mouth directly because the FDA doesn’t label it as a food-safe material. For example, you can avoid applying it to the rims of mugs and cups. Clean your project surface. I wash glass, ceramic, and metal with warm soapy water – rinse thoroughly, and let dry. If your piece is too large, using rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball to clean. Plastics. You’ll need to test the plastic first with a small square of paper or fabric. Mod Podge the paper/fabric down and let it dry for 15 minutes. If it peels off really easily, it’s not going to work. Inkjet – Print the picture onto the paper and let it dry for at least ten minutes. If you decide to use acrylic paint, you’ll need to be sure to use a multi-surface or enamel paint specifically for glass. My favorites are FolkArt Multisurface, FolkArt Enamel, and Delta Multisurface. There are plenty of other glass paint brands as well (Pebeo, Jacquard). Just make sure to read the bottle. Chalk Paint
