About this deal

Absolutely – well mostly. You can use it with acrylic paint, and I highly recommend FolkArt Acrylic Paint as my brand of choice. These days I’m loving their multi-surface formula. I do not recommend using Mod Podge with latex paint. Use a soft bristled brush and then sand between coats. To do this, apply the Mod Podge and let it dry an hour. Then use #0000 steel wool and lightly sand the entire surface. Do this between every coat. After the final coat, sand and then spray a clear acrylic sealer to finish. Can I use a blow dryer on my projectto speed up the drying process? You will need a certain type of Mod Podge depending on your project. Different projects require different formulas. Read my Mod Podge formula guide to learn more. How Do I Get Started? Matte Mod Podge will dull anything underneath it and Gloss Mod Podge will make anything underneath it shiny. That said, besides the finish they are exactly the same formula. The various formulas are not the same thing with a different bottle label. The specialized formulas have different ingredients, and different prices too. There’s a reason for that.

Having said that, if I want to add fabric to fabric, I’ll use Fabric Mod Podge. If I want to have a little sparkle on my item, I’ll use Mod Podge Extreme Glitter. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat. How do I know WHEN I should use Hard Coat?Well, there’s no hard and fast rule. But I would say if you imagine that the piece will get handled frequently, you should upgrade to this formula from the basic formulas. You can’t glue with the Super Gloss; the goal here is to get a smooth, epoxy-like finish over a large area. To use, Mod Podge your pieces down with another formula. Wait about an hour for Mod Podge to dry before applying any additional sealer. What sealer should I use with coasters or other items that need to be waterproof?Cut the design out of the Napkin and separate the layers.; you want to use only the top layer of the Napkin.

Does it come in different sizes? This formula comes in the most sizes: 2 oz., 8 oz., 16 oz., 32 oz., and even gallon. It feels dry within an hour, but I wouldn’t hang up a project or use it until it’s been dry for 24 hours. For Hard Coat, the recommended dry time is 72 hours. Since Hard Coat is typically used on furniture, wait for 72 hours before putting anything on the furniture. Does Mod Podge have a shelf life?

Of course, you can use this formula on wall art too. Just because you aren’t going to handle it all the time doesn’t mean you CAN’T use it. I personally use it for anything that’s going to get regular usage. Yes! I never know at any given moment how many Mod Podge formulas are in existence. That’s because there are always different, cool kinds coming and going! Acrylic Sealers:If you need a strong sealer to spray on top of your finished project, these come in Gloss, Matte, Pearlized (which has a bit of shimmer), and Super Gloss.

Apply the Mod Podge of your choice to your surface: paper, fabric, wood, using a paint brush or foam brush. Paint it on your surface evenly. If you are using Mod Podge on fabric-to-fabric (for instance, gluing a patch to a shirt) then yes, you should use the Fabric formulabecause it is washable. Any tips for Mod Podging fabric/using Fabric Mod Podge? But how are the Mod Podge finsihes going to look at the end of your project? Will they be shiny or what? That is one of the most common questions I get!If you’re covering an entire glass surface as I did in this dollar store vase project, you don’t have to be as cognizant of where the Mod Podge is going. However, if you put a small photo on a vase (for example), you’re going to want to make sure to stay in the edges as much as possible. Fabric Mod Podge is really tough, very durable AND it’s washable. So I always use it for projects that need to be durable – like clothing, accessories and furniture. If you are just Mod Podging fabric to letters and hanging them on the wall, you don’t need to use the Fabric formula.
