About this deal

Like all Wi-Fi systems, you use one of the hardware units as the primary router, which connects to the Internet. After that, you can add more hardware units, wirelessly or via network cables, to extend the home network. Fixed an issue where the connection speed might decrease when LG V30 Plus is used as the USB tethering device. Related Synology Release SRM 1.3 for the RT2600AC & MR2200ac Router for Adding RT6600ax Mesh Setups You will be asked which connection method your nodes will be connected by. I STRONGLY recommend selecting both ethernet and wireless connections So far so good but now I have one too many satellites (should have bought the box with 1 satellite!).

This link works behind the scenes to keep the hardware units together as a system. It also determines the ceiling bandwidth (and speed) of all devices connected to the particular broadcaster. When a dual-band router (the RT2600ac) works as the primary router, it can create a virtual 2nd 5GHz band to manage the 2nd 5GHz band of a Tri-band satellite (MR2200ac). This band still suffers from signal loss, but the practice allows users to manage all bands of the Tri-band satellites. But getting it means you'll miss out on a lot, including top-tier Wi-Fi 6 specs and the 6GHz band, which is a major part of Wi-Fi's future. That said, Synology’s approach to mesh is professional with business flavors. Asus AiMesh’s approach is messy but fun and geared toward home users. As you might have noted in the specs table above, the Synology WRX50 has two things of note: The 2.5GbE Multi-Gig port and the support for the UNII-4 portion of the 5GHz band.

Built for busy network environments

The WRX560 breaks from the RTxxx naming convention, and as a Dual-band device, it's not the Wi-Fi 6 version of the Tri-band Wi-Fi 5 MR2200ac, despite sharing a somewhat similar up-standing design. Synology WRX560 vs RT6600ax: The Synology WRX560 is almost as large as the RT6600ax though much lighter. The WRX560 has just one 2.5GbE LAN/WAN port. And that's a big missed opportunity. Things would be much different if it had a second Multi-Gig LAN port. Compared to the RT6600ax, Synology's first Wi-Fi 6 router that came out in May 2022, the new WRX560 is much lesser in hardware specs. Model

For users currently on SRM 1.2.3 8017 Update 3: Due to issues introduced in Update 3, certain scheduled tasks no longer function as expected. If you have set up and used the following features, manual actions will be required to restore functionality. By the way, in my experience, all Synology routers support importing settings from one another. So if you have the RT1900ac, for example, and want to replace it with an MR2200ac, you export the settings from one and import them into the other. Fixed the issue where devices might fail to connect to Wi-Fi points when devices on the guest network were not allowed to access the local network. Fixed an issue where SRM might not work properly when the network is connected to certain PPTP servers. Also, I was considering buying a few MR2200ac units as the satellites. Presumably then I should buy a higher-specced unit as the main unit, and connect each MR2200ac satellite to the LAN port of the main unit? Which main unit would you recommend (i.e. RT2600ac, WRX560, RT660ax)? ReplyYou can access many of the router's settings using the Synology DS Router mobile app for iOS and Android devices, but you'll get more management options if you use the web, including advanced settings for things like IPv6, Static Routing, DHCP Reservation, and IPTV and VoIP settings. The console uses the Synology SRM (Synology Router Manager), a Windows-like desktop operating system similar to the DSM (DiskStation Manager) OS used to manage Synology NAS devices such as the DS119j and the DS1517+. Note, if you are connecting the nodes (temporarily for setup or long term) via ethernet, you need to ensure that the MR2200ac or RT2600ac has cable connected to the WAN port and into a LAN port of the RT6600ax. Otherwise, the connection/host-client communication will not function correctly. Again, later on, after the node is set up, you can move these nodes away and the wireless connectivity will also function between the mesh points. Setting up the MR2200ac -- or any Synology router for that matter -- is similar to setting up a standard router with a web interface. Adjusted the behaviors of data storing: system data will now be respectively stored in each external storage device connected to Synology Router. Fixed the issue where the performance of Synology Router might be reduced when a macOS device connects to it.

At the end of the initial setup process above, you’ll have the option to add Wi-Fi points; use it if you want to add a satellite immediately. The steps to initiate adding a mesh satellite to an existing Synology router with SRM 1.3.x. Fixed an issue where a future time might be displayed in Log Center if the correct NTP information could not be obtained.Fixed the issue where iPhone 11 running iOS 13.2.3 might fail to connect to the WPA3-Enterprise wireless network. Fixed an issue where Internet connections established via MAP-E might fail after Synology Router was restarted.
