About this deal

To weight your dummy, consider using “wheel balance weights,” available in 5g and 10g pieces: https://amzn.to/3GDHCYd. Alternatively, you can use coins, chains, rice, or other weights that fit inside the dummy. Polarizing filters can be rotated to maximize or minimize the admission of polarized light. Rotating the polarizing filter will make rainbows, reflections, and other polarized light stand out or nearly disappear depending on how much of the light is polarized and the angle of polarization.

Get your ND filters for the GoPro here. A set of ND32, ND16 and ND8 will get you pretty much all covered:

PolarPro has been making GoPro Filters and Lenses for ages and they also make high quality filters. They make filters for GoPros, DJI drones, DSLRs etc. In my opinion, a polarizing filter is THE MOST useful and for me at least, the most used. A good Circular Polarizer (CPL) is the most versatile filters that can turn a boring photo into something special without even going to your editing software.

Make sure to get a good SD card that has decent write speed. With a slow card your GoPro recording might stop randomly or even won’t record at all. It’s important to understand the speed class of SD cards, and the speed requriement for the particular resolution you plan to use with the GoPro.Shutter Speed: Set to whatever exposes the image properly (use your phone app to preview the image). If you are using the right ND filter, then the correct shutter speed should be 60 (assuming you are using 30fps, if you use 60, then set this to 120). These tables below provide my best settings for the latest GoPro Hero 11 and 12, but should also work well on older models. Video stabilization is essential for a cinematic look in your videos, you have three options: Hypersmooth, Reelsteady and Gyroflow. Hypersmooth is built-in, thus more convenient but offers less control, while Reelsteady and Gyroflow requires extra rendering but allows for customization. Between Reelsteady and Gyroflow, the former is paid while the latter is free. Personally I prefer Reelsteady, I think it gives better result in most situations. Learn more about image stabilization here here: https://oscarliang.com/stabilize-fpv-videos/. But Gyroflow also produces decent result, learn more here: https://oscarliang.com/how-to-use-gyroflow-video-stabilization-tool-for-fpv/ For Hypersmooth GoPro Settings There is also less risk of twist-on ND filters vibrating and causing problems with footage when compared to friction fit or magnetic ND filters. Given that the availability and cost of some twist-on ND filters for newer GoPro cameras are comparable to friction-fit filters, twist-on ND filters are probably the best type of ND filter to use with a GoPro. The newest GoPro provides two options: low (either 45 or 60Mbps) and high (100Mbps). I always recommend setting the bitrate to high. Although this means bigger file sizes, it’s a small sacrifice for preserving image quality. Shutter Speed

Neutral Density (ND) Filters let you have more control of your GoPro camera’s exposure time and sensor sensitivity settings. These filters reduce the amount of light coming into the camera sensor, and produce cinematic shots with better contrast and rich colour. There are filters that are measured to a fraction of a stop, but, for simplicity, we are using whole numbers here with the exception of a few filters.) Shutter speed affects the exposure of your image by controlling how much light enters the sensor. It also influences the appearance of your image, with faster shutter speeds producing sharper images and slower speeds introducing more motion blur. A moderate amount of motion blur is desirable in FPV videos for a “cinematic” look.If you want to get the smooth milky water texture in an image on a bright day you NEED an ND filter. Even if you turn the ISO down to 100 the shutter speed will have to be really fast to avoid overexposure so the water will look as crispy as for the human eye. Image from kenkoglobal.com
