About this deal

Two obverse varieties exist for the 1921 dated issues. We are indebted to Declan Magee and Numista member Sjoelund for the image below indicating the differences. Today, I’m going to show you how to tell if you’ve got a valuable 1936 wheat penny worth a lot of money or a 1936 Lincoln cent that’s worth only a few cents over face value. A continuous flat area now covers Lincoln's face, jaw, and hair. His bow-tie remains with a strong upper and lower separation. Merged are the central knot with ribbons defining the bow. Contours of the entire tie are worn smooth. Due to Edward VIII's short reign, no coins with his effigy were minted across the British empire but rather those which only featured his ruling title. However, the US Mint restored the VDB under Lincoln’s shoulder in 1918, and they have remained there ever since.
