About this deal

The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of this medicine. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially: To avoid problems with the taste of food, have your child use this drug after meals. Do not let your child eat, brush teeth, or rinse with water or other mouthwash right after using this drug. Rinse your mouth with the solution after brushing your teeth as directed by your doctor, usually twice daily (after breakfast and at bedtime).Measure 1/2 ounce (15 milliliters) of the solution using the supplied measuring cup. Swish the solution in your mouth for 30 seconds, and then spit it out.Do not swallow the solution or mix it with any other substance. After using chlorhexidine, wait at least 30 minutes before rinsing your mouth with water or mouthwash, brushing your teeth, eating, or drinking.Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at the same times each day. The most common side effects associated with chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse are: 1) an increase in staining of teeth and other oral surfaces; 2) an increase in calculus formation; and 3) an alteration in taste perception; see WARNINGS and PRECAUTIONS. GUM Paroex is distributed in cases of 14 amber 4-fluid-ounce (118.25 ml) bottles of chlorhexidine rinse. The bottle has a childproof cap and is safety-sealed and decorated with a multiple-panel wraparound label.Chlorhexidine Gluconate can cause a rare but serious allergic reaction that may be life-threatening. Get emergency medical help if you have: hives, severe skin rash; wheezing, difficult breathing; cold sweats, feeling light-headed; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that using the product could potentially cause oral and systemic infections requiring antibacterial therapy. In some individuals, it could cause life threatening infections, including pneumonia and bacteremia. Paroex therapy should be initiated directly following a dental prophylaxis. The recommended use of Paroex is twice daily, oral rinsing 30 seconds, morning and evening after toothbrushing. The usual dosage of Paroex is 15 mL (1/2 fluid ounce marked in cup) of undiluted Paroex. Patients should not rinse with water, or other mouthwashes, brush teeth, or eat immediately after using Paroex. Paroex is not intended for ingestion and should be spit out after rinsing. Oral irritation and local allergy-type symptoms have been spontaneously reported as side effects associated with use of chlorhexidine gluconate rinse. The following oral mucosal side effects were reported during placebo-controlled adult clinical trails: aphthous ulcer, grossly obvious gingivitis, trauma, ulceration, erythema, desquamation, coated tongue, keratinization, geographic tongue, mucocele, and short frenum. Each occurred at a frequency of less than 1.0%. Among post marketing reports, the most frequently reported oral mucosal symptoms associated with chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse are stomatitis, gingivits, glossitis, ulcer, dry mouth, hypesthesia, glossal edema, and paresthesia. Minor irritation and superficial desquamation of the oral mucosa have been noted in patients using chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse. There have been cases of parotid gland swelling and inflammation of the salivary glands (sialadenitis) reported in patients using chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse. The most common side effects associated with chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse are: 1) an increase in staining of the teeth and other oral surfaces; 2) an increase in calculus formation; and 3) an alteration in taste perception; see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS. Measure your dose using the cup provided with the medication. Swish the medicine in your mouth for at least 30 seconds, then spit it out. Do not swallow the mouthwash. Simply mix ½ teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water, swish the solution in your mouth, and spit it out after a minute.
