About this deal

Portenta Gotchas are simple things like: No Analog pins being able to do PWM and the reversed onboard LED's where LOW means OFF and HIGH means ON but connected LED's are normal. That is kind of my issue with the Portenta. I don't think it's niche customer is real Pros. I think it's niche is for education and small businesses that don't want to hire a mechatronic / electrical / computer Engineer, but have a problem that needs solving and have a capable Maker employee.

When I first heard about the Arduino Pro Portenta H7, it seemed like a unicorn compared to Arduino’s previous boards. As you — the reader — are probably aware of, Arduino boards are cost-efficient, accessible, and a workhorse in the maker world. The Portenta H7 has a lot of the same charm as a standard Arduino board but with parts that cater more to professionals than the average electronics hobbyist. Geared for industrial use, the Portenta H7 board can be highly customized to fit the needs of a business. This doesn’t stop us makers from being intrigued by the versatility of the Portenta H7 though! With its powerful components and ease of use, DIY makers can definitely tap into this board to supercharge their projects. The Portenta family adds two 80 pin high density connectors at the bottom of the board. This ensures scalability for a wide range of applications by simply upgrading your Portenta board to the one suiting your needs. On-board Connectivity

The Portenta H7 Lite simultaneously runs high-level code and real-time tasks thanks to its two processors. For example, it can execute Arduino-compiled and MicroPython code at the same time, and have the two cores communicate with one another. One of the benefits of the Portenta H7 is that it supports different types of software cores. A core is the software API for a particular set of processors. It is the API that provides functions such as digitalRead(), analogWrite(), millis() etc. which directly operate on the hardware. The new Arduino Portenta H7 development board will be available in the coming week. We thus sat down with Dario Pennisi, hardware development manager at Arduino, to get a deep dive into the spirit behind the hardware. The Portenta H7 is highly symbolic because it’s Arduino’s first official foray into industrial MCU boards, which is why, among many other reasons, the company chose an STM32H747XI microcontroller with two cores: a Cortex-M7 and a Cortex-M4. Since the device is capable of handling temperatures as low as -40ºC and as high as +85ºC, the board can thrive under harsh conditions and offer a robust environment for professionals. And to truly embrace the needs of these developers, Arduino is also announcing the availability of its Arduino Pro IDE beta.

The Portenta family adds two 80-pin high-density connectors at the bottom of the module. This ensures scalability for a wide range of applications: simply upgrade your Portenta to the one suiting your needs. USB-C® Multipurpose Connector

Once the server has responded to this request, it closes the connection and continues listening to next GET requests. The Portenta H7 Lite Connected simultaneously runs high-level code and real-time tasks thanks to its two processors. For example, it can execute Arduino-compiled and MicroPython code at the same time, and have the two cores communicate via a Remote Procedure Call mechanism that allows calling functions on the other processor seamlessly for real multitasking. Your machine learning algorithms can now run simultaneously alongside low latency sensor/actuator interaction. The Portenta family adds two 80-pin high-density connectors at the bottom of the board. This ensures scalability for a wide range of applications: simply upgrade your Portenta board to the one suiting your needs. USB-C® Multipurpose Connector guys, this portenta is driving me insane. Im working through some errors which were solved with pullups as mentioned above. Portenta can easily run processes created with TensorFlow™ Lite, you could have one of the cores computing a computer vision algorithm on the fly, while the other could be making low-level operations like controlling a motor, or acting as a user interface.Beyond use in the development lab, the Portenta Breakout can act as a first point of entry for educating technicians in industrial grade control and embedded systems. The Portenta H7 is specially designed for high performance in industrial environments. While the hardware is highly customizable, we provide three ready-made solutions: EdgeImpulse.com just fully supported the Portenta for Vision and Sound Machine Learning documentation here When the board is configured to operate as an access point, it can create its own wireless LAN (WLAN) network. In this mode, the board transmits and receives signals at 2.4 GHz allowing other electronic devices with Wi-Fi capabilities using the same bandwidth to connect to the board.
