Not only that, but takeaway cutlery sets can be disposed of in multiple ways, meaning your customers can choose the way that is most convenient for them. Whether that is through a local recycling centre, or through turning them into compost if the recycling centre doesn’t accept them, you can be sure that the wooden knives and forks from your business can be disposed of in a way that will support the environment. You might notice somewhere on your plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays a small triangle made of three arrows with a single number in its centre. Sometimes there is also an acronym like "HDPE" below it. This is not to be confused with the universal recycling symbol, which is also made up of three arrows in a triangle. We like knowing where and under what conditions items are made, and for brands that don’t give us too much to scoop up, we reach out and ask for seconds. While eco-friendly dinnerware obviously isn’t something to be worn, it faces the same issues that typically accompany fashion, which is why we looked for the following in the best sustainable utensils.

The cutlery being flat and smooth also reduces the chances of splinters. The best way to help fight the negative impact of disposable cutlery when you need to use it is to invest in compostable or recyclable alternatives. Food utensils made from materials such as bamboo, wood, palm leaves, and bioplastics, like polylactic acid (PLA), are much better for the environment.
