About this deal

Foned completely gets it, it's not easy trying to understand the differences of each mobile network operator. Is o2 any better than Vodafone for this smartphone, when it comes to coverage? Or worse? It's a real minefield. Another example, which is better? A Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra ee contract or a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Tesco Mobile contract? Sitting at the top of Samsung’s new flagship trio, the Galaxy S21 Ultra has everything you could want from a top-end flagship phone, including a gigantic 6.8in screen, a smattering of rear and front-facing cameras, up to 512GB of internal storage and the option to upgrade to a – frankly bonkers – 16GB of RAM. It’s also the first Samsung phone to come with Android 11 pre-installed, and it can record 8K video, just like last year’s Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra review: Price and competition

The Galaxy S21 series is faster for two reasons: it marks the debut of brand-new chipsets, and the software has been streamlined just a bit, with the ever-evolving OneUI 3.0 interface tied into Android 11. Compared to the S20 Ultra, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has a few key improvements. First off, let's start with the camera. Bokeh Mode, Face Detection, HDR, AI Features, Smile Detection, Night Mode, Panorama, Portrait Mode, Automatic Mode, Burst Mode, Stereo Recording, Scene Detection, Slow Motion, Time Lapse

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (Exynos) scored 93 points in the artifacts test. It performed flatly in the volume and spatial tests, although it did show some distortion on shouting voices. It also has a slightly unnatural tonal balance. S21 Ultra: Processor and speeds The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra also features an ultra-wide lens. This 12-megapixel camera can capture pictures at 0.6x zoom. Normally, ultra-wide cameras are fixed focus and capture less than full-sensor images. So what are you waiting for – search for your desired Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra handset colour, and perfect contract using our filters.

What else is new? Well, there's the Single Take 2.0 feature. This allows you to capture fast-changing scenarios by taking multiple photos and then selecting the best one. The Single Take 2.0 feature also records a short video clip of up to 10 seconds. Going all the way from the ultra-wide camera at 0.6x to the digitally zoomed-in 30x with usable photos each step of the way is how Samsung stands apart from Apple and its cameras on the iPhone 12 Pro Max (capped at 2.5x optical / 12x digital), and Google’s Pixel 5 (no telephoto). No one (except Huawei) is doing zoom on a smartphone like this in 2021, and your Apple phone-owning friends will have telephoto envy.We noticed that the Galaxy S21 Ultra camera offers improved dynamic range in outdoor photos (see photos with a bright sky and darker buildings) over its predecessors, and Samsung now offers 12-bit raw files for greater flexibility when editing. The iPhone 12 Pro series still wins out for many non-zoomed photos, especially indoor and nighttime shots, but Samsung and its more finely tuned night mode (it doesn’t simply bump up the exposure) help close the gap. We also tested the screen brightness of the Galaxy S20 Ultra outdoors, and it automatically amps up to a super-bright 1,500 nits when necessary. Other phones with AMOLED screens, including the S21 and S21 Plus, max out at 1,200 nits, and every little bit helps in direct sunlight. One of the most important features of a wireless charger is that it allows you to charge your device without a cable. That said, while that's the list price, many stores are now selling the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra for less. You can expect the price to continue dropping over time.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra has the same Exynos 2100 chipset (it’s the Snapdragon 888 in the US) as the rest of the lineup. Unlike the other phones, however, you also get the option to upgrade from 12GB of RAM to a whopping 16GB, along with a choice of either 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of non-expandable storage. In my experience, 16GB of RAM is pretty much overkill for any smartphone – my MacBook Pro “only” has 8GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is a decent flagship from the company. It comes with an improved design and improved battery life. It also features better cameras. However, it is still facing stiff competition from rivals. Another improvement is the camera's pixel binning technology. This allows the camera to combine nine pixels into one, which should result in less noise. This should also allow for brighter, clearer photos. The base-level 128GB of internal storage with 12GB of RAM might not be enough for everyone. You’ll want to either pony up for the version with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM, or max out at 256GB of storage with 16GB of RAM. The RAM won’t make much of a difference in a phone, but you’ll definitely notice if you run out of storage space. Not that there’s much need to tweak the camera settings, though. Open up the camera app and you’ll be treated to wonderful, detail-rich images that are filled with vibrant colours and rich, intricate details. I was particularly impressed with the portrait mode, which you can see here side-by-side with the iPhone 12 Pro:This is also the first Samsung phone to launch without a charger in the box. Following in Apple’s footsteps, Samsung says the charger’s removal is an effort to reduce the environmental impact of the phone, but it also says that it “removes any pressure that consumers may feel towards continually receiving unnecessary charger accessories with new phones”. Bokeh Mode, HDR, Panorama, Night Mode, Portrait Mode, Stereo Recording, Face Detection, Gesture Recognition, AI Features, Scene Detection, Video Photo, Slow Motion, Time Lapse The S21 comes with a 6.2-inch Full HD display with dynamic refresh rate technology to offer up to 120Hz super-smooth refresh rate. Now, the refresh rate part is super cool, obviously. The display size also allows the device to stay as compact as possible without losing that large display feeling. But the Full HD resolution is a bit underwhelming because the S20 was offering 1440p instead of 1080p. Is the difference even that noticeable at this display size and pixel density? Not really, but it's not impossible to notice either, so make sure to keep it in mind if you have one of the recent Galaxy S models and looking to upgrade. Other than that, as with most Samsung phones, the display quality is still top-notch with super vibrant colours and high peak brightness. The New and Improved Chip This is still Samsung’s best screen, but for many other reasons. We found the 6.8-inch body to be easier to grasp than the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max, and that’s in large part thanks to the curved display and overall narrowness of Samsung's device. The curved edges are subtle on the S21 Ultra, and not quite as pronounced as on past Samsung devices, and that means fewer errant presses.

Proximity Sensor, Hall Effect Sensor, Light Sensor, Gyroscope Sensor, Accelerometer (G-Sensor), Fingerprint Sensor The biggest area where Samsung are consistently great at is the display. The 6.8-inch, Dynamic AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution (1.440 x 3.200) is certainly a sight to behold. It has vibrant colours, very high peak brightness, high pixel-per-inch count and a super-smooth refresh rate at 120 Hz. The refresh rate especially makes a massive difference in how responsive the device feels. Combined with the Exynos 2100 chip that powers the device, navigating the UI is just a breeze. The content on display is super sharp too. The 515-PPI display is perfect for high-res multimedia consumption. The Advanced Camera SystemSamsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is here in the UK and, if you're able to afford it, it's ready to buy on contract (Pay monthly) or Sim-free. This is bad news for consumers who are looking to make the switch from iPhone to Samsung, since the Galaxy S21 Ultra charges via USB-C and thus doesn’t support Apple’s Lightning cable. Perhaps a more consumer-friendly tactic would be to provide a choice as to whether or not the charger was included, instead of removing it entirely. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra review: Display The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra's camera has a new sensor. It's similar to the sensor on the S20 Ultra, but the S21 Ultra has slightly better results at the ends of the zoom range.
