Students designed the kettle as part of a task devised by Isle of Man based Strix, which is regarded as a world leader in the design of control systems for electric kettles. Concealed heating element– Provides a rapid boil and prevents internal damage, stopping the appliance furring up with limescale. The samples don’t always look exactly how you want them to the first time around. Creating perfection isn’t easy! The Swan trio diagnosed the initial proofs of the Stealth Kettle over months of communication. When designing a new product there are always numerous stages and amendments made. This may be because the colour doesn’t suit your imagined idea of the product, or the logo doesn’t sit where you’d like. The materials also need to pass multiple tests and have to be thoroughly assessed. The students have not only reduced the noise at source, but also found ways of preventing the noise being transmitted to the human ear,'' said Prof David Hayhurst, from the department of mechanical, aerospace and manufacturing engineering.

Capacity - The kettle's capacity is 1.7 litres which works out at about 6-8 cups. Such a large capacity is suitable for busy households, offices, etc. Collecting the old product which is officially counted as WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). These products are separated into the correct waste flow at our local depots and send directly to government approved WEEE recycling plants. As a White Goods manufacturer, we take our WEEE obligations very seriously and actively encourage our customers to use the most environmentally friendly recycling scheme available in the UK Spout - The spout is designed to provide a targeted pour, therefore minimising drips and spills. There's a removable and washable filter before the spout to protect against limescale. Concealed Element - The heating element is concealed underneath the kettle's floor. This prevents it from becoming caked in limescale, therefore extending the kettle's operational lifespan.

STUDENTS from a Manchester university have designed a fast-boiling kettle that's so quiet it won't drown out the sound of a television, radio or mobile phone. Dubbed the ''stealth kettle'' the new invention from scientists at UMIST has already interested electrical manufacturers. And academics believe it could revolutionise the industry. The generous 1.7-litre capacity also allows you to make up to 8 cups of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, or other hot drinks at once and is also perfect for boiling water to make rice or pasta or adding to sauces, soups, and other recipes. The cordless operation allows for maximum maneuverability, and a specially designed integrated spout allows for targeted pouring with no drips or spills.
