About this deal

Unknown Heart [ fr] (dir. Giles Foster, 2014), starring Greg Wise, James Fox, Jane Seymour and Julian Sands Told from the alternating perspectives of three women, Suzi, Elle, and Nora, it is immediately apparent that all is not as it seems in the lives of these three women. Suzi, the most fully fleshed out character, is pregnant and living in fear in a remote cottage where she is the victim of domestic abuse. Nora, coincidentally or not, takes up residence in a cottage of her own across the street, and might just be the salvation that Suzi is seeking. Or will Nora's secrets, in fact, be the undoing of them all?

Not sure where this series will go next or if this is indeed the end of the line for Joe😢. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each and every book and still hold out hope for one more!🤞 And of course there’s the child / parent relationship and its complexities, no matter how old the children become, which lies at the core of this book – the mortality (and fallibility) of our parents – something Robotham explores with compassion. Since the author introduced us to Professor Joe O’Loughlin, a clinical psychologist, (Suspect) readers anxiously await the next installment. Thirteen books later and the Professor (a man with a brilliant mind and a crumbling body) is still with us. (thank you).

As with What You Did, come to think of it, the men are the least well drawn, but hey I'm fine with that. Turnabout is fair play? They satisfy fun/expected character tropes, though if anything could count as a quibble with the book, it would be that. There was one specific male character I would have liked a tad less distance from, though I think perhaps the air of mystery was to contribute to dramatic tension? Claire is an absolutely fantastic author. She had me on the edge of my seat, desperate to keep reading, not wanting to put the book down. There's little twists spreaded the whole way through, getting bigger until they lead to the main. I absolutely loved it. Family is one of the only things that matter to him in this life. That and helping others, whether it’s in his work as a Forensic Psychologist or in solving crimes related to his job. When he finds his father in his hospital bed, he can’t help but try and figure out what happened to him which begs the question, how well do you truly know those around you or rather, are people really who you think they are? I have personal experience with that question, (being divorced, lol) and for me, the answer to that question was not very well, ha.Joe's persistent leads to discoveries that make him and his family a target. Despite his misgivings, he must find answers as the police seem to be on the wrong trail. The head investigator is making ever effort to stymie Joe and even threatens him in the process. However, Joe's family is at risk and Joe must have answers, even if the police honor their threats against him. Even if his own safety is at risk. There are more skeletons in his families closet than a haunted house!

Not to mention the fact his father had another life, in which he was seemingly a very different person. I had actually never heard of this book and only came across it by chance when I was looking at free ebooks on kindle unlimited, and it was a pleasant surprise! There are many suspects and twists along the way and Joe discovers that his father although distant throughout his childhood, does have a human side with flaws like everybody else. A free copy of this book was provided for reviewing purposes in conjunction with interviewing Kathleen for the release of her latest novel Secrets of the Royal Wedding Chapel. My review is honest, and has not been impacted by the free copy. What an outstanding book!!! Narrated by Karen Cass makes my day!!! I love listening to her. This is one of my top ten psychological thrillers for '22! Claire McGowan you hit every goal for psychological thrillers. It kept me guessing throughout. Which character is connected to which character? The book is full of deceptions, lies, ghosting, gas-lighting, psychopaths, sociopaths, infidelity, manipulation and mysterious people.

The Other Wife is a powerful women's fiction story of loss, betrayal, compassion, forgiveness, and growth. It is a thought provoking and emotional tale that will stay with you long after the last word has been read. This book is very much about the father Joe realises he didn’t know at all. And there’s something rather sad about that… Wow! Brilliant. I love this series and in particular, enjoy the author’s writing (huge fan). Psychologically rich. One of my favorite authors – with each book I say “my favorite.” From the standalone and the series. What makes his work so unique is the sophisticated character development. There is always a story, flawed characters with strong family ties and emotions.
