About this deal

The characters were excellent. There were some unlikeable characters, and weak characters, but that made the story for me. The outcome was unexpected. I enjoyed the way that you hopped around different character's perspectives. They did have a chapter to themselves when this was happening so I was able to keep up with what was going on. It was nice to get everyone's point of view at least at some point in the story. Cecily, matriarch of the Mordaunt family has died and her family have gathered for the 'entail'. This is a lavish dinner where individual letters are given out, informing the recipient if they are the next owner, or not. She has previously featured on Women's Hour and This Morning, and she currently routinely appears on Sky News, Good Morning Britain, Channel 5 News, BBC Radio, and LBC.

The top-eight model was obviously an insane and very toxic thing to do – providing teenagers with metrics about how much people like them is about as stupid an idea as anything I’ve ever heard. But it was a demonstration of how friendships grow and shift and change from season to season (or perhaps that tech giants don’t have the kind of social skills which would make ranking your mates a nightmare). I no longer let frustration build up inside me like a pressure cooker, blowing up every few weeks because I have denied my anger an outlet for so long. Instead I modulate my frustration, letting it out at the appropriate moment, towards the correct person. And while it might sound a little like a cult, my marriage is better, my friendships are stronger, my professional relationships are more transparent, and I am, across the board, a much more pleasant person to be around - since I discovered the power of rude. On the other hand, the couple does not seem to have children in the family as of 2022. The journalist has not shared pictures of her children on her social profiles. Although she may not have hefty earnings from her time in the Telegraph, she has gained the experience required in journalism by working in such a reputed media network.

It's been dubbed Knives Out meets Gossip Girl , and that's a fair summation of this nifty little read.' Belfast Telegraph

While Rebecca is an avid traveler, showcasing her journeys with her husband and friends on social media, there is no evidence of the couple having children as of 2022. Apart from her profession as a journalist, she is also an author, feminist, and digital editor for Grazia. She has written columns for the Telegraph online and features for Metro.co.uk in the past. Finally through a poor night's sleep where I left it running, dipping in and out, I finally heard the twists revealed and it ended.Lastly the settings. There was only one main setting and that was the house itself. It was described as another character really. I enjoyed what description there was, but it was primarily a book based on the characters and their thoughts and actions.

The books approaches very sensitive subjects head on and sometimes without resolution, however this is very true to life, not all awkward and unpleasant situations do have a rosy outcome,it was very true to life in this respect and I liked how the author didn’t tie all these things up to be ‘sorted’Or my work best friend who lives on the other side of the world but feels like she lives next door. My platonic soulmate best friend who I can spend three hours on the phone to without either of us finishing a story we’ve started telling, my sister who comes to my house every single Thursday night with expensive white wine and listens to me moan. My “only really message each other to talk shit about someone we haven’t seen for 10 years but would give them a kidney” best friends – the list goes on and on. She has also authored books, including her debut novel “Perfect Liars” and upcoming releases “The Power of Rude” (nonfiction) and her second novel, “Truth Hurts.” There characters in this book are brilliantly depicted from the sweet and gentle Violet who, as it turns out, has hidden depths, to the overachieving Briony who envisages her husband's family home as an exclusive girl's school with herself at the helm. I disagree. I like the unabashed, child-like adoration that the term implies, the fact that it’s effusive and unguarded, with the same sort of emotional semiotics as “partner”, “husband” or “boyfriend”. A big, meaty, important label to slap on a relationship which is often as important, if not more important, than romantic love. With a diverse portfolio, Rebecca regularly writes for prestigious platforms such as Marie Claire, The Guardian, Telegraph Online, The Independent, Grazia, Stylist, and iPaper.

With a cast of upward of 11 main characters, most of who give their Points Of View and narrative throughout this book needs a ‘Cast List’ at the beginning,I managed without but did take me a good 25% to remember who was who and who had done what with who and how they were all related, that aside it is a good drama surrounding a stately home that is bequest to a family member on the death on the current owner,it doesn’t go on hierarchy or age just on who the present owner feels would benefit from the house on their departure from the world……you can imagine the chaos, bad feeling and resentment this causes ( it’s all done via a meal where letters are given to each person who could be in line to get the house ) The story focuses on the family of Cecily Mordaunt, a rich lady who owns a huge estate including the desirable mansion called Roxborough Hall. After Cecily dies, on the night before her funeral, her family is summoned to the Hall for the traditional dinner where they'll find out who Cecily has left the hall to. But, of course, things don't run as smoothly as expected... I didn't guess who would be left the house, and the way it was revealed / came about was better than I expected.Cecily Mordaunt is dead. On the evening of her funeral, her family will gather for dinner and each will be given a letter, revealing who is the next custodian of Roxborough Hall.
