About this deal

STEP 1 – Grab your favourite moisturiser ( Skin Feast we’re looking at you) and pump a pea-sized amount into the palm of your hand.

Moisturising immediately before applying your tan creates a barrier between your skin and the active plant allo-melanin found in our tanning range. This means that your self-tan won’t penetrate the upper layers of the epidermis and your colour won’t develop as effectively. Remember that when you use a self-tanner, you need to use a scrub to prevent dead skin cells from building up — otherwise, your tan won’t fade evenly. This formula is no different, and it’ll be especially noticeable if you use a deeper shade. But if you’re a seasoned self-tanner user, you’ll have no trouble adjusting to Tanologist’s drops. All you have to do is apply a few drops to your face, whether you apply directly to your skin, blend with your moisturiser, or on your hands before blending in, as you would any other face serum. While many brands these days are clean, it is a scant few that can claim to be organic like this one from Pai, which uses skin quenchers like hyaluronic acid and sea kelp to attract and seal lasting moisture into dry skin. You get to choose from three unique shades — champagne, rose gold, and bronze — to add radiance to your complexion, whether you mix it into SPF, apply directly to your cheekbones, or even mix it into your body lotion. You can even buy a smaller size of this product to test it out before committing to a full-sized bottle, which we greatly appreciate. Bondi Sands Pure Self-Tanning Drops, Tanologist Face and Body Drops, and Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops are all water-based, so they should play well with your water-based foundations. The good news is that when your tan starts to dim, it's easy to add a few tanning drops to your moisturiser, with no need to spend time meticulously blending with a tanning mitt. Will tanning drops work on all skin tones and types? You’re standing at the bathroom sink. A rainbow of freshly made, organic Tropic products lies at your fingertips. But what goes first: serum or toner? Glow Berry or Sun Drops? And is it ok to mix and match? Whether you’re a skincare newbie (welcome!) or a well-seasoned expert, this Glow Academy lesson explains the art of layering your skincare products – so you can fully benefit from your serum’s superpowers and enjoy real results. THE SERUM SANDWICH Whether or not you look for a “clean” formula is up to you. But remember — your skin is your biggest organ. “Everything you put on it absorbs and affects you,” cautions Thomas. “The FDA really only regulates what is put into nail products and hair dyes, but not self-tanners or products that alter skin tone, so you need to read the ingredient label and make sure that what you are applying is not going to affect you negatively.”

The brand suggests using anywhere from three to six drops of this product for a subtle glow to up to 15 for a deeper bronze. If you’re familiar with the gradual tan formulas from Jergens, you may be tempted to use this product every day to achieve a similar result. Don’t be fooled, though — these are not gradual tan drops, so if you have fair skin and go for a deeper glow on a daily basis, the result may look a bit orange. For best results, regardless of your skin tone, we recommend spacing your usage out to every few days. If you're a fake tan rookie or have been burned in the past (let's not even go there), tanning drops will be a game-changer. If you’re craving a tan though, the good news is that you don't need to risk damaging your skin to achieve a subtle, believable bronze, as face tanning drops are an easy and effective way to get some golden colour. Self-tanning drops are innovative because they're a concentrated form of self-tanner, making your self-tanning journey ultra-customizable. They're easy to apply — you can mix however many drops you want (most recommend somewhere in between one and 12) into your favorite face cream, body lotion or SPF — the more drops, the darker your tan will be — or you can apply directly to skin for the ultimate bronzed appearance. After you’ve slathered yourself in bronze, wash your hands so they don’t stain! “If you’re rinsing the tanned area within two to eight hours of application, do not use soap and do not apply cosmetic products until the tan is fully developed,” says Claghorn. Otherwise, you risk washing away your tan. After that, you can use soap.

What We Don’t Love: This is not a product to keep on your bedside table, lest you wake up with stained palms. As mentioned, the best tanning drops are incredibly versatile and can be applied in a number of ways. Whether you want to top-up an existing tan, create a subtle sun-kissed glow, or accentuate parts of your face where the sun would naturally hit – this bronzing self-tan serum does it all. With a sweet passion fruit scent, coconut water and aloe vera, it'll keep skin soft, spongy and hydrated. Summer Skin gradual tanning lotion When it comes to achieving a natural-looking glow, we’ve got you covered! Follow these simple (yet effective) Tan Commandments for fuss-free, beautifully bronzed summer skin... Prep work Self-tan has gained a bad rep over the years of being drying, smelly, and unnatural in shade. But we’ve made it our mission to develop a self-tanning range that not only mimics the result of basking in the sun, but also provides endless skin benefits at the same time.

For a fuss-free subtle glow, our gradual natural self-tanning lotion is the perfect option. Using DHA derived from sugarbeet, coconut oil, and mango butter, it'll deliver all the hydrating benefits you'd expect from a moisturiser, with a golden end result. Sun Drench overnight tanning mousse They assessed the ease of application, whether there was any patchiness or streakiness in the finish, as well as their scent. You don’t need to use much of this product to get a high-wattage glow — just two drops or so is all it takes to make your skin gleam with a champagne gold or copper glow. You can apply it directly to bare skin, mix it into your foundation or tinted moisturizer, or concentrate it on your cheekbones for a dramatic highlight. We do wish that the product came in just one or two more colors to suit super fair and very rich complexions, but in the meantime, this formula sheers out nicely to flatter a variety of skin tones.

Hart adds that “building your tan gradually will ensure you don’t end up feeling too dark or with an uneven base.”
