Fox, Renée C. (1981). "The Sting of Death in American Society". Social Service Review. 55 (1): 47–48. doi: 10.1086/643890. ISSN 0037-7961. JSTOR 30011444. PMID 10250829. S2CID 33834100. Again the worldbuilding is top notch. The more we learn about the world and how it works, the more utterly bizarre it becomes. I love the fact that the world is comprised of these giant floating islands that slowly rotate above an eldritch god called the Mistwatcher, which is the center of the world's religion. I mean, it's hard to argue the existence of God when you can just peer off the edge of your island and look it in it's many, many eyes.

I enjoyed the story a lot up to a point where I realized that there won't be much progress with regard to character building. There just isn't much depth to the characters (even the main ones, cause the side ones fall flat straight from the beginning) and having read 92 chapters at this point, I do not expect things to change. To be honest, it would not be a problem if the story remained "lighthearted" as its description suggests but at some point, due to the protagonist's choices, I could not treat it as such anymore. It's either or, but can't be both. The academic study of death is called thanatology, a field pioneered by Élie Metchnikoff in the early 20th century. Thanatology focuses on describing postmortem bodily modifications, as well as perspectives concerning psychosocial, medical, ethical, and spiritual aspects of death. It discovers significant applications in the criminological field of science as it very well may be utilized to decide the specific time of death since the body stiffens on the onset of the rigor mortis process. Livor mortis is a technique used to decide whether the body has been dislodged post-death before rigor mortis starts. Diagnosis of brain death. Rigor mortis is a temporary condition. After a total of about eight hours after death, muscles relax again.

StatPearls [Internet].

Of these, with obvious mortal damage to the body, the textbook conclusive signs of death clear to a lay person are: algor mortis, rigor mortis, livor mortis, and putrefaction. [13] As someone that has read a lot of fantasy, i feel like i am at least capable enough to say that this world has a good system for it's magic, which is literally one of the main focuses of the story itself if you consider how much shit it causes in the main character's life, meaning the author can't just bullshit his way in an out the same way as most, but that they have also managed to establish the foundation of something great as of this moment, with great potential for a future i wish all of us can explore.

Rigor mortis or postmortem rigidity refers to the stiffness of the muscles and joints of the body after the death of an individual, which normally endures between one to four days. It is the third stage and an observable indication of death that occurs because of the chemical changes in the muscles that realize a stiffening of the muscles of limbs. Prior to the 1980s, the legal standard defined death as the absence of cardiopulmonary function including the loss of all vital signs. [2] However, as medical technology advanced, there were situations where one might lose brain function and maintain cardiopulmonary function. [3] This led the American Medical Association, the American Bar Association in collaboration with the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws to come together in the 1980s to expand the definition of death through the Uniform Determination of Death Act (UDDA). [3] Under this law, death can be defined as the loss of cardiopulmonary function or the loss of brain function including the brainstem and cortex. There are four significant stages of rigor mortis namely, autolysis, bloat, active decay, and skeletonization. All these rigor mortis stages are clarified in detail: This section needs additional citations for verification. ( September 2020) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message) Our normal body temperature is 37°C. If the ambient temperature around a corpse is less than that, it usually takes between 18 and 20 hours for the corpse’s temperature to decrease to match the outside temperature. There is no set time span when skeletonization happens. This is on the grounds that the decomposition rate relies on the loss of organic and inorganic components. Skeletonization refers to the final stage of decomposition when the soft tissues of a body or carcass have deteriorated or dried to the point where the skeleton can be seen.
