About this deal

The screw is used to set the tension of the timing belt. Do not fully tighten it. Otherwise, the timing belt may be damaged. If you can't put the shaft through the timing belt, the possible cause is that the timing belt is set too tight. You can adjust its tension by turning the screw. Fit the four side plates together. Align the power switch, power port, and USB port with the openings on the right plate.

The D1 Pro is a Class 4 laser that can damage your eyes and burn skin. It also produces smoke and fumes while engraving or cutting materials. You must take precautions to operate the machine safely. Use this and any other laser at your own risk. TBF to xTool, many seemingly-insignificant details can impact the actual ability of a laser cutter. In the example above we have used 20% power and 60 mm/sec speed. Ensure you have the material to be marked under the laser and that the laser is focused properly by using the built in focus tool. When the light shield is dirty or laser beams can't cut a material, you need to clean the laser module. When you hit the Framing button it will instruct you to push the button on top of your xTool D1 Pro. Then the framing operation will begin. You can do this as many times as you need to.Put the shaft through the coupling, and then put it through the timing belt and insert it into the idler pulley. After adjusting the position of the rear plate, you can still use the focal length setting bar to set the position of the laser module. After looking at the insulated cup, I'm doubtful this would fit my needs for precision-cutting small batches of sheet aluminum. For details about how to create with example projects, see “Example Project - Making a Phone Holder.” The laser has a very finely focused beam, from .1 to .08 mm, for thin, detailed lines. The powerful 20 watt laser combined with a print speed of 400mm/s can cut and engrave faster to save you time when compared to a 5 or 10 watt laser like the Creality CR Falcon.

The air assist and honeycomb bed are *ESSENTIAL* for most jobs, especially when it comes to cutting. If you want a professional finish without the charred look, you need to be running an air assist module and the honeycomb base, there is are little to no projects that work better without them. Prevent the middle plate and laser module from falling down themselves. Otherwise, the limit pieces may be damaged. Try to set the timing belts on the right and left plates to the same tension, so that xTool D1 Pro can cut and engrave materials properly. You can operate xTool D1 Pro by using our official software xTool Creative Space (XCS) or the third-party software LightBurn.

Some materials should not be burned with a laser due to their chemical makeup – they could melt, catch fire or produce toxic fumes. Dallas Maker Space has published a list of safe and hazardous materials to use with their laser. The list of no-nos includes plastics, fiberglass and certain foams. Since the laser is literally burning material, never allow it to operate unattended and have a fire extinguisher handy just in case. The D1 Pro does not have a screen of any sort and requires a computer to operate. You can connect to the laser with a USB cord, WiFi or phone app. I used WiFi and ran the laser from a desktop PC. There’s a start button on the machine to prevent unattended operation, so you’ll still need to stay in the area. Before creating your works, you can place the aluminum sheet in the working area of xTool D1 Pro to protect your desk or floor from being smoked or burned.

The air assist blows cool air onto your work surface, which prevents charring while also keeping the smoke from gunking up the laser lens. The results are cleaner cuts, less charred looking engraving and a safer experience. The air pump and tubing are much like those seen on a fish tank or airbrush, and just as noisy. This software is easy to operate and everything a beginner needs. It’s also tuned to work specifically for your laser – you must link the laser to the software – and has many helpful presets for materials sold by xTool. You can draw shapes, vector lines and add text with XCS. Best of all, the software understands JPGs so you can import photos and clipart without trouble. Insert the connectors of the laser module, motor, and limit switch connection cables into the ports on the main control board, respectively. The D1 Pro is equipped with a transparent safety shield over the laser module, however there is a slight gap between the shield and the material. Because of this gap, you must always wear safety glasses that protect you from the 455 nm (blue) wavelength light. A pair is provided with the machine.
