About this deal

Given the issues I had with HDMI-connected consoles, I’d have preferred they kept two DisplayPorts and two HDMIs, though in reality users are more likely to have additional devices with HDMI outputs rather than a second desktop with DP. As such, this display is not suited to competitive gaming where fast response is key, and if you’re particularly sensitive to ghosting this probably isn’t the display for you. I thoroughly enjoyed playing racing games and sims on this monitor, though, and scenic AAA games were an absolute delight. I would highly recommend you carefully consider the kind of games you are interested in playing if you’re considering purchasing this monitor.

Dimensions, weight and color Information about the dimensions and the weight of the specific model with and without stand as well as the colors, in which it is offered to the market. Width Colours do have a tendency to become washed out when viewed at an angle, which can occur if you’re close to the screen or sitting off-centre. It’s less significant when gaming, as this is usually in your peripheral vision, but when I was editing images at the side of the screen I had to move in front of the picture to make sure it was accurate. The 49” AGON AG493QCX is similar to its sibling, offering a Full HD-based experience instead of the QHD on the AG493UCX2. In a fully featured sim setup with a reasonable distance from the monitor, the AG493QCX delivers a great immersion experience, and unlike its QHD sibling, the lower resolution is less taxing on the GPU, bringing the total system cost down.

Why is AOC AGON AG493UCX2 49" better than AOC AGON AG493UCX 49"?

The monitor is based on a 49″ 5120×1440 super-ultrawide panel, which is basically equivalent to two 27″ 2560×1440 monitors put side by side, just without the bezels in between them! The monitor has a power switch and integrated KVM functionality, it comes with a remote controller, and one of the USB downstream inputs supports fast charging.

Though many monitors have an 1800R curve radius, it looks more extreme on monitors in the 32:9 aspect ratio. There’s no mistaking the wraparound effect here. The sides come in sharply and when looking at the Windows desktop, you’ll think you’re in a fish bowl. The curve yields some distortion, but you won’t it after a time. That distortion means that horizontal lines in Word processors and spreadsheets look a little bowed unless you adjust the panel to be perfectly vertical.Sync Technology Adaptive-sync (Free-sync Premium after AMD certified and G-Sync compatible after NVidia certified)

On mac, I'm still testing/tinkering but I'm unable to close my laptop display and use single screen @ 5120x1440 working. It works when the lid is open with the screen on, but as soon as i close the screen it goes dark. I'll update if i figure it out. Approximate height of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the height is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio. We didn’t have to stray far from the default settings when calibrating the AG493UCX. While it doesn’t require adjustments, we saw visible improvements after a few tweaks. The 5120×1440 resolution provides you with 108.99 PPI (pixels per inch) on the 48.8″ viewable screen of the AOC AG493UCX2 monitor. As a result, you get plenty of screen real estate with sharp details and text. You also won’t have to use scaling to make small text readable.
