The main issue in my household is hair. I’ve had long hair since my teens, and my girlfriend has shoulder-length hair. Furthermore, we seem to shed. A lot. This means that the regular style spinning bristle brushes found on most cleaners soon get hair wrapped around the barrel which impacts on its cleaning efficiency. It also requires me to unravel and cut the hair out of the bristles, wasting more time. Anti Hair Wrap: If you have long hair or a perpetually moulting pet, you will know the sheer devastation this can have on a vacuum cleaner roller. Shark’s anti-hair wrap feature works the hairs out of its rollers as it collects them, preventing them from getting tangled. It also uses DuoClean technology, which means the front soft roller of the floor head is there to collect the really fine dust, we found this to be on a par to nearly all the other upright corded models from Shark.

It’s a shame the tool is suction-powered rather than motorised, as this reduces the power and makes it quite noisy. Still, it’s great to have a rotating brush bar in a smaller tool for cleaning tight spaces, even if you don’t have pets.

The Anti-Hair Wrap technology also means you can avoid that awful job of cleaning the brush bar after every use. Is the Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Anti-Hair Wrap Plus good value for money? How does the Shark Anti-Hair Wrap Plus manage on stairs?

If you suffer from allergies, not only is the mess-free emptying a bonus, but Shark’s Anti-Allergen Complete Seal apparently captures and traps 99.9% of dust and allergens. The weight reflects this solid construction, though, as it’s on the heavy side at 6.77kg. This isn’t much more than the 6.5kg of the Shark NZ801UKT, but it’s worth taking into consideration, particularly for elderly people or anyone looking for a lightweight vacuum.
