Maybe you need somewhere to channel your inner J.K Rowling. Or a place to run your business empire that isn’t overrun with dirty dishes. There are two options for preparing the ground for a Garden Room. A concrete plinth or ground screws. Your Garden Room is a big deal. And they don’t come cheap. So making sure you budget for your Garden Room is important. It’s tough to give you an exact cost, as it will depend heavily on size. And also on a number of other factors. Our Deuchny and Kindrogan designs needed something to rival steel’s durability, but also provide the sophisticated finish needed for such refined buildings.
You might want something a little different though, which will change the price. But this gives you the basics of how much it will cost. I’m not trying to get out of writing about Planning (but equally, could you blame me?), but the topic is just so vast that it needs its own article. As long as you:
Confirm your age
We don’t use pressure-treated weatherboard for our sheds, but we do use pressure-treated framing to give your building some extra oomph! Give any of our sheds a shove and they’ll stand firm.
The real superstar of a layered wall construction isn’t really a layer at all. It’s an air cavity. If there is a gap between the outer cladding and the next layer of the wall, it seriously limits the ability of any moisture to travel between the outer cladding and the inside of the building.
Breather Membrane
The logistics park is strategically located ten miles from the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, which attracts significant commercial traffic. The park has experienced steady rental growth over the last three years and its tenants include some of China’s leading blue-chip corporations in the logistics, retail, and pharmaceutical sectors such as SF Express, Tmall, JD.com, Sinopharm, and China Mobile. This doesn’t mean that water will come pouring through your summerhouse walls. If it’s a well-built affair with a good specification, a summerhouse should keep water out most of the time. However, it’s important to understand the limitations of a single-skinned building. How Much Maintenance Does A Summerhouse Need? As a rule of thumb, if there’s a visible frame and the walls look the same inside and outside, a building is single-skinned, like the shed above. What can I use a single-skinned building for? It’s important to note that ground screws are purely for the foundation of the building. So they will follow the lay of the land, which can mean the head of the screws will be visible. You may wish to add additional landscaping to hide these heads and help the building fit within its surroundings. When we realised that it was time to retire our summerhouse specification, we knew that we didn’t want to get rid of these beautiful buildings entirely.
Something else to consider is how much maintenance you’ll have to carry out. If you’re happy to paint your summerhouse carefully every few years, air the buildings regularly and inspect it for any signs of water ingress, you’ll be just fine. Beyond this, customising our new Garden Rooms is absolutely possible, but these customisations will be charged separately. What Other Costs Are Involved? Pouring the concrete is usually done by the concrete supplier, to make sure of an even distribution across the full area. The Groundsman can then screed the concrete before finishing by floating it to a smooth need finish.
