Mike Dorey (10 February 1973). "Cadman the Fighting Coward". mikedorey.co.uk . Retrieved 10 April 2022. Fraser, George MacDonald (1996a). Flashman at the Charge. London: HarperCollins. ISBN 978-0-00-617676-3. Sonsee-Array (Takes-Away-Clouds-Woman), an Apache savage 'princess', daughter of Mangas Coloradas and Flashman's fourth wife ( Flashman and the Redskins). Lakshmibai, (Possibly) Rani of Jhansi and leader of the Indian Mutiny ( Flashman in the Great Game). If you like the series, this definitely is one you have to read, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it unless you're taking the Flashman Paper in its entirety. I could recommend this just so more people can see what the kingdom of Madagascar was really like, or what the piracy situation of Singapore was like, which were fascinating, but otherwise, I'd recommend the other two Flashman I've read first over this one. On consideration, perhaps this is better than Flashman 1 in my mind (it's been a while since I read it) but that does give the context to the full Flashman story more than this does.

A busy man of tremendous energy, Fraser claimed to have written 20 or 30 film scripts. Most of them were never made, but even so, he said, the money was very good. The scripts that did reach the screen were The Three Musketeers (1974), The Four Musketeers (1975), Royal Flash (1975), The Prince and the Pauper (1977), the James Bond film Octopussy (1983), Red Sonia (1985), Casanova (1987) and The Return of the Musketeers (1989). Mueller, Andrew (6 July 2002). "Crusty Old Codger". The Weekend Australian. Surry Hills, NSW. p.R10. In the first novel, Flashman describes himself as six feet tall and weighing 12 and a half stone: [18] in Flashman and the Angel of the Lord he says he is six feet, two inches tall. [19]During the course of Fraser's novels, Flashman goes from his expulsion from school into the army. Although he is a coward who tries to run away from any danger, he is involved in many famous military episodes from the 19th century, often taking actions that cause or affect subsequent events, such as his flatulence affecting the Charge of the Light Brigade, [a] or being the person who probably shot George Armstrong Custer. When circumstances run against him and he is forced to fight, he often does so relatively capably. Despite his cowardice and his attempts to flee, he becomes a decorated war hero and rises to the rank of brigadier-general. He also meets people who either were notable at the time—such as Benjamin Disraeli and the Duke of Wellington—or who became well known after Flashman met them—such as Abraham Lincoln. Flashman either has, or tries to have, sex with most of the female characters: by the tenth book he estimates that he has had sex with 480 women.

The noise of his eruptions startles his horse to such an extent it bolts towards the Russian lines, speeding up the British advance. [1]An editorial piece in the 14 May 2011 edition of The Guardian newspaper on the subject of British Prime Minister David Cameron being labelled a "Flashman" was given a Harry Flashman by-line and was written in the style of Flashman's narrative. [20] Flashman died in 1915, although the details are unknown. [28] Publication sequence [ edit ] Books by publication sequence
