I've gotten completely dependent on having a 35" monitor and my 13" laptop monitor as real estate when working. I often have three windows viewing between them. I'm much less efficient when I'm on the road and just using that 13" monitor. So I'm really excited to bring this monitor on my next trip. Even grabbing it with one hand and putting pressure on the screen doesn't seem to bother it (although probably not a good idea) Portable monitors are usually 14in-17in in size (that’s measured diagonally across the screen). You might want to match the screen size to that of your laptop/tablet, if you’re using one, but otherwise it’s just a question of budget and requirements. Even 17in is small enough to work on the go, however. What other specifications should I look out for? I've been using this USB monitor for around 10 months and I love it! I use it with a MacBook Pro 16" and the size of this display is just similar enough to where it looks almost pretty much the same as my primary screen. Granted, the resolution is lower and the only way to control brightness is through the hardware buttons which could be easier to use. The protective outer shell is a bit confusing to figure out at first but once you do it's easy to use. Colour reproduction is disappointing with sRGB coverage of 57.5% but otherwise, this is a fantastic solution for those who don’t have space for a full-size desktop monitor. Like many portable monitors, the Acer PM161Q isn’t much to look at, but this one happens to deliver where it counts. It connects to your devices via USB-C and has a micro-USB port for additional power delivery if you’re connecting to an older phone. Both cables are included in the box alongside a USB-A power adapter.Brightness: One of the few things you’ll be able to tweak on a portable monitor, brightness is measured in candela per metres squared (cd/m²) or nits, so keep an eye out for those. If you’re on the go a lot you’ll want something that can exceed 300 nits to counteract sitting in direct sunlight. Ports: Most modern portable monitors use USB-C for power and video transmission, so if your laptop, PC, smartphone or tablet relies on other forms of connector, you’ll have to take that into account. If not USB-C, the monitor may have microUSB or even mini-HDMI ports for video and power transmission. In our color testing in Standard mode, the MB16ACE covered 69.8 percent of the sRGB color space, with nearly identical results (69.7 percent) in sRGB mode. (See the chromaticity chart below.). That effectively matches what we saw from the Asus ZenScreen Touch, which hit 69.1 percent of sRGB in Standard mode. Perfect. Highly recommend this little monitor. It goes perfectly with my QuadStation Traveler laptop (google it) and i use 2 of them with my laptop. Peak brightness isn’t amazing, but you don’t really need a lot of brightness on an office screen. The first one, called Splendid, actually opens a submenu showing eight picture modes: Standard, sRGB, Scenery, Theater, Game, Night View, Reading, and Darkroom. Newest MacBook Pro operating system requires a DisplayLink driver to be installed. The monitor will not work without it. The dilemma i always had with the previous version MB169B+ was finding a laptop with 2 x USB 3.0 ports. not as easy as you think. But they always have at least one, and now one x USB Type C. This monitor can also be propped either horizontally or vertically, although you’ll need to install the LG OnScreen Control app to access vertical orientation mode. It has a 15.6in, 60Hz 1080p IPS panel with good viewing angles and an anti-glare, matte finish to keep reflections at bay. And although it doesn’t come with a fully protective folio case, the supplied folding stand can be attached to the front to protect the screen while it’s stowed away.
