About this deal

The fabric is think with four-way stretch plus a DWR coating to ward off drizzle and splashes. Inside, a soft facing feels good against bare skin. Sizing is true to size with a generous cut but without being baggy, and waist adjusters allow you to customise the fit, plus belt loops mean you can add a belt if you want.. A tapered leg plus elasticated hems makes getting them on and off easy. Gone are the days when if you wanted to be warm while riding, you’d need to get yourself some tight-fitting downhill pants. The Endura MT500 Spray Trouser is part of the new wave of light, comfortable full length numbers that keep the worst of the elements off you. In the UK we are just coming to the end of one of the wettest winters in recent memory and I have probably worn these trousers about 20 times in the last 3 months, for pedally epics, E-Bike missions and even on the uplift. Normal riding kit has pretty much been stored away and I feel like I know these pants inside out.

My first winter’s riding was this tight and waterproof combo - and the additional faff of three layers (liner shorts, tights, waterproofs) was just that - a faff. And having three layers often meant a slippy feeling on the saddle. Also as things warmed up, temperature regulation became an issue. Yes, I own thermal bib tights with pad - but then you’re washing an enormous, expensive garment after every ride - not a cheap liner short. This winter Endura has revamped the Freezing Point Trousers. The easiest way to tell the old from the new is the fastening at the fly. The old model has a single large button, the new model uses two poppers. The coldest I’ve ridden the old Freezing Point trousers in was -13 degrees C with another ten degrees off for wind chill at least. With some thermal knee-length bibs underneath I was toasty warm, even on an eMTB where trying to keep sweat down and stay upright on sheet ice (spiked tyres) I was pretty easy on the effort. Given how badly I feel the cold, the Primaloft Gold insulation around the thighs and kidneys does a great job of retaining heat whilst the thigh vents work well if things warm up. While Rapha might be a brand more often associated with road cycling, its trail mountain bike range is impressive, and we found these offered comparable performance to the Troy Lee Skyline trousers during testing.

Shredly Cascade Pants

While the colours might be rather bold (there are other more subtle colours available, too), the logo isn’t too ‘in your face’. Dave Caudery / Our Media Part of the award-winning MT500 Collection, Endura have seriously turned up the All-mountain dial to create the latest and greatest iteration of the best-selling MT500 Waterproof Trouser II. Collection of choice for Dowhill Legends the Athertons. Full length leg zips feature improved venting options and offer easy on off with shoes on. The new, more durable ExoShell40DR™ fabric and styling update to keep them in line with the rest of the revamped MT500 waterproof collection, these are sure to be your go to wet weather trousers for rides to come. PFC-Free and built to last this product now also has strong environmental credentials and is MADEKIND. EXOSHELL40DR™ Long gone are the days of heavy, shapeless motocross pants; modern mountain bike trousers come in a range of technical fabrics to suit different conditions and there are more choices than ever for women. They’re an increasingly popular alternative to shorts, with lots of different options on the market. Pants are never going to be as breezy as shorts, but the Burner Lite comes closer to any I’ve tried thanks to the lightweight material that feels breezy, and never clammy. There are also laser cut holes galore, with a score or more either side of the knee to draw in air. I’m happy in the Burner Lite up to 20°C or so, which means I’ve been wearing them all this summer without problems.

We’re big fans of Endura’s MT500 Burner Pant, it looks good and offers great durability and protection. This new Lite version is arguably better for trail riders though, because it’s incredibly light at 268g, or nearly half the weight of the downhill pant. All in all, I highly rate the Endura MT500 Freezing Point Trousers. They make riding in properly-arctic conditions enjoyable, practical, comfortable, and faff-free. Just watch the sizing. Because the MT500 Burners are slimmer than some rival pants, you don’t get issues with them bunching heavily at the ankles – something that’s a real plus when they’re soaking wet. Way stretch fabric gives you unrestricted movement on your bike, leaving you to focus on the trail and not on your gear. The cut is feminine but loose, with 4-way stretch to the fabric, and an articulated knee and elasticated ankle cuffs, jogger-style. Low- to mid-profile knee pads fit comfortably underneath the pants. I experienced some rubbing on my left knee when not wearing kneepads from a stray, scratchy thread which was uncomfortable over longer distances.Chain reaction Cycles and CRC are trading names of Wiggle Ltd (In Administration) registered in the United Kingdom at 1000 Lakeside, Suite 310, Third Floor N E Wing, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO6 3EN,
