About this deal

Information about the maximum vertical viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. The result is a 4K HDR picture that we find a little more exciting than the similarly priced Sony A80J during bright scenes. Sony’s OLED is only a hair behind on dark detail and doesa little bit better at shading some scenes, but there’s still enough skill in the QN94A to give us a very three-dimensional feel as our hero climbs up the inside of the tall turbine tower.

Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits) If you happen to add a recent Samsung soundbar to the 50QN90A, the two can join forces to deliver a larger, higher soundstage with even more accurately positioned vocals. The TV’s speakers are well-rounded enough to harmonise with those of the soundbar surprisingly well. The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC.As with the other Samsung Neo QLED TVs we’ve tested recently, the 50QN90A’s mini LED lighting is a revelation when it comes to the sort of contrast we can expect from an LCD TV. Samsung’s penchant for sharpness continues to its upscaling of sub-4K content. Samsung has applied AI technology to its upscaling for a couple of generations now with consistently striking results, but the 50QN90A confirms that the technology continues to improve. Especially when it comes to dealing with any compression or colour noise an HD source might contain. Finally – see every moment from any angle, without the brightness of the sun or the lights in your room getting in the way. Samsung’s critically acclaimed anti-glare TV screen absorbs reflections, so you can enjoy TV in incredible colour and contrast, day or night. So go ahead, watch the midday match or lose yourself in a midnight movie - without distractions. Whether you’re on the edge of your seat or stretched out on a corner sofa, you'll never miss any of the drama. Voice Control, EPG, Subtitles, Teletext, Auto Channel Search, Auto Channel Sort, eARC, HDMI-ARC, HDMI-CEC, Parental Control, Multilingual OSD, Sleep Timer, Game Mode, Smartphone Remote Control, Picture in Picture Tizen is divided into four (technically five) sections: Search, Ambient, Gaming, Media and Menu. Ambient is where you can turn the screen into an art installation with a selection of prints (you’ll also have to contend with the dreaded NFTs). The Gaming Hub features cloud services such as Utomik and Xbox Game Pass, Samsung TVs are the only TVs you’ll find that app on. Media features streaming apps along with curated content from the likes of iPlayer, and Menu is where you’ll find options to tweak picture, sound, etc.

Sound has always felt secondary for Samsung when it comes to its TVs, and that’s quite understandable. Samsung will point you towards its Q series range of soundbars and we’d certainly encourage you to seek out an external audio solution for your AV room too. You’ll benefit from a sense of scale that no TV speaker system can match. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits)It’s not all easy money for this TV, though. Boost this set to its contrasty best and you’ll occasionally notice that there’s a little dark detail that’s lost. There is also the odd moment where the TV’s brightness gets a touch out of control and details can sometimes be either overblown or underplayed. It’s possible to tone both of these down but to take them away would also hobble the QN94A’s very best characteristics. Size class of the display as declared by the manufacturer. Often this is the rounded value of the actual size of the diagonal in inches. The QN90B is a second gen Neo QLED Mini LED TV, and it’s another exceptionally bright effort that boasts wide-ranging colours. I do think, however, there’s a case to be made that too much brightness is not always a great thing.

Mini LEDs are roughly one-fortieth of the size of regular LEDs, and therefore many more can be squeezed into a TV panel. With an increased number of LEDs and additional dimming zones, the QN90A delivers deeper colours, wider viewing angles and more precise local dimming than its QLED counterparts. HDR performance is on a par with more expensive OLED TVs, and the QN90A is safe from the screen burn that can affect organic LED-lit sets. While you need to tweak a couple of things to get the best out of it, a well set up 50QN90A proves that Samsung’s Mini LED-driven Neo QLED technology is capable of elevating the brand’s TVs to new OLED-challenging performance heights even at a relatively mainstream size. The other issue with the Samsung QN90A’s design is that it only comes with one full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 port. That could be a slight problem down the road, but the good news is that, for now, all four ports can handle both the PS5 and Xbox Series X at 4K/120Hz, VRR and ALLM. Despite all four ports working well for the consoles, port 3 is the only port to support eARC, so you’ll want to use that for a soundbar. Percentage luminance drop at 20 degree vertical angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output Converted to Test Bench 1.10. With this update we've revamped our Gradient testing, added a new test for Low Quality Content Smoothing, and expanded our Audio Passthrough testing.
