About this deal

The Scarpa Origin is a humble shoe that won’t turn many eyes at the crag. However, the Origin is much more comfortable compared to the bevy of aggressive climbing shoes marketed to bouldering and sport climbers. Indeed, the Origins are built on a flat profile instead of one with a downturn. As a result, it’s a truly neutral shoe that allows your foot to flex more naturally while climbing.

We love the La Sportiva Zenit and think it's the best beginner climbing shoes for people who want something comfortable. Several features set it apart from (and above) the competition. The multi-zone knit under the Velcro closure is incredibly breathable, the rubber on the outsole has a great combination of grip and durability, and they’re the most comfortable climbing shoes I have ever worn. While the price comes in a touch high for a beginner shoe, we think it’s totally worth it for what you get. Let us sing its praises. Friedrichshafen 2006: The New Climbing Line is presented with diversified and technologically advanced solutions. The collection has been developed in cooperation with Heinz Mariacher, an energetic, vital and excellent mountaineer and climber, with 20 years' experience in research & development for climbing footwear. The XTension System™ and the Bridge System are now introduced: two unique systems by SCARPA® which assure high performance, protection, power, precision, tightness and safety with no equal. Eighteen models for each technique, each style, each slope, and each climbing experience. Then, again a standstill. It's thanks to the cooperation and the positive role played by Romolo Nottaris, a devoted friend, all-round mountaineer and Swiss distributor that SCARPA® re-discovers its true vocation. In 1993 the Denali boot is created: it represents a passion for extreme. It's a striking market success and opens the doors to new investment in research and development. The product evolution and Romolo's excellent support have allowed SCARPA® to emerge as the winner in a market where the game appeared to have already been played. Besides the neutral fit, the padded suede upper makes these shoes easy to wear between climbs and prevents a long break-in period. The velcro straps allow you to decide between a relaxed and snug fit. This is great for giving your feet a break on more moderate climbs. Overall, the shoe feels great in cold and hot weather, and the PAF heel system ensures a secure fit at all times.Luigi, Francesco and Antonio Parisotto take over the SCARPA business. It's an excellent opportunity for the three young brothers but a huge responsibility and a great challenge too. They have good heritage though: Luigi's manual skill (he started at the age of 11 as a shoemaker trainee); Francesco's business skills (inherited from his mother) and Antonio's reliability. Although this model is among intermediate and advanced boulderers, the Niad is absolutely worth it for all levels of climbing. We especially recommend them for the type of beginner climbers who already know they are dedicated to the sport and want to excel fast. Additional information about how data is collected and processed by third-party analytics vendors is found at: Overall, whether you choose the men or women-specific SCARPA Origin climbing shoe, you can expect outstanding performance combined with comfortable and supportive fitting. Performance And Comfort For Men And Women The first time I crossed the gate of the SCARPA® old headquarters was in 1980 and I was with Renato Casarotto, just before we left for the first winter attempt on Makalu , the 8478 metre-high Himalayan giant. (…) Destiny wanted that in 1986, after six years during which I frequently climbed in many mountain chains all over the world, Francesco opened the doors for me to enter a brand-new world, offering me to manage the sales of his products in the Swiss market; that was the beginning of many adventures in creating new products together…”

A flat or neutral shoe will definitely feel nice and comfortable on the feet. This also makes the shoe a bit stiffer but very supportive. Some people climb all day long. For that, the shoe has to be specially made to provide comfort. The Origin-U is part of SCARPA’s all-day performance category and it does not disappoint in terms of comfortability.

The Origin is essentially Scarpa’s answer to the Evolv Defy above, one of the world’s best-selling beginner climbing shoes. In fact, we think the Origin is better-designed and made with higher-quality materials, although you do pay for it. But as far as performance goes, the two have very different strong suits: whereas the Defy is great for gym climbing and outdoor bouldering, the Origin’s stable sole and cushioned upper make it a better fit for high-mileage and multi-pitch days (the generous 5mm outsole helps). On steep or technical terrain, expect the shoe to feel clunky and imprecise. When we began implementing our project almost everybody said we were crazy. A Telemark boot in plastic? The concept was unthinkable and without a market. Yet, we went straight ahead and did it. We devoted time, manpower and energy to our 'new idea'. And once again we succeeded. In terms of comfort, customers consistently rated the SCARPA Origin highly. The padded suede upper not only provided a plush feel but also eliminated the long break-in period typically associated with new climbing shoes. Thanks to its top quality, SCARPA® is requested and adopted by the Italian forest guards, the alpine rescue, the Italian, American, French, Spanish and Indian armies. SCARPA® is the official supplier (in the '60s as it is today) of the Cortina d'Ampezzo, San Martino di Castrozza and Courmayeur Alpine guides and of many other sports associations too.

All that said, why break the bank on a pair of shoes? More to the point, why spend extra for features you don’t need? You’re a beginner, so don’t worry about a highly asymmetric toe, aggressive downturn, powerful slingshot rand, top-notch heel- and toe-hooking ability, or incredible edging precision. If you’re like most beginners, you probably don’t even know what half of those things mean, and you don’t need to. Your only job as a new climber is to enjoy yourself and figure out if you really want to commit to the sport. So go ahead, buy cheap. Permission granted. And if you continue to enjoy climbing, you’ll upgrade down the road. The La Sportiva Tarantula is an affordable beginner shoe Transitioning to a More Advanced Shoe What is going on with SCARPA® now is a real revolution, triggered by the introduction and combination of materials and high-tech, environmentally friendly, the result of more sophisticated research. 1990 A MARKET-ORIENTED BUSINESS To help you understand better, we are going to break down all of the cool features in our scarpa origin shoe review Better Soles for Better Sensitivity: The Finale is an entry-level climbing shoe with some features that will help you start to get a feel for what a more high-performance shoe might be like. Like La Sportiva’s top models, this shoe sports Vibram's stiff XS Edge rubber, padded mesh tongue, a tensioned heel rand, and the company’s proprietary P3 system that holds the downturn of the shoe over time. However, given the Finale’s unlined construction (great for out-of-the-box comfort) and durable 5mm sole, it’s not lost on us that this shoe is tailored toward new climbers. The wider and taller heel cuff allows for bigger size fits, accommodating different foot shapes without sacrificing performanceThe SCARPA Origin climbing shoe is constructed using high-quality materials to ensure durability and performance. The upper of the shoe is made from suede leather, which not only enhances its longevity but also provides a comfortable fit. Overall I would recommend these to any beginner (provided the shoe fits well), or anyone looking for a comfortable and easy to use gym shoe. If you want more performance but don't want to sacrifice comfort, I would highly suggest taking a look at Scarpa's Force V shoes. The SCARPA Origin is often recommended for beginners due to its comfortable fit and versatile performance. It provides good support and sensitivity, making it an ideal choice for climbers who are just starting out. How does the sizing of the SCARPA Origin run? Beginner climbers will appreciate how the SCARPA Origin enhances their ability to jam effectively without compromising comfort or durability. Product Specifications Of The SCARPA Origin The SCARPA Origin climbing shoe offers impressive performance when it comes to edging. The shoe’s design and construction allow for solid precision and stability on small footholds.
