About this deal

A few solutions have come out to resolve this problem, including the Tremol-no, and the HipShot Tremsetter, etc. I’ve personally used the Tremol-no on a few of my guitars, and it’s a great contraption once you have it all set up properly. You don’t have to do any permanent surgery to your guitar either. I have installed Tremol-Nos in various guitars and have not run into any compatibility issues so far. All popular tremolo systems are supported, even though you do need to make sure that the Tremol-No model you use is compatible with the tremolo system. More on that later. All in all, the Tremol-No has relatively few shortcomings. The ones it does have are fairly easy to solve. Let’s take a look at detailed look at tremolo vs vibrato, and listen to some audio examples to get a better understanding of these often misunderstood effects. The two types of tremolo

To start with the positives, the device is made from the right materials, has a quality finish and is constructed with narrow tolerances. Especially the tolerances are important, as you don’t want any play in the components that causes the bridge to wobble.

Top tip: Not all guitars have vibrato systems installed. Standard Les Paul models, and other hardtail guitars, don’t have this functionality. Using vibrato pedals Most of the time, vibrato sounds like a slight “wobble” in the sound that’s a much subtler effect than tremolo.

Its limited instructions can be compensated for by finding better instructions online. The hard to adjust thumbscrews can be replaced with the easier to use set screws. If any of them come loose over time, simply apply Loctite 242 to them. It’s a very common mistake that people make, which isn’t helped by guitar manufacturers still using the wrong terms today.

If your guitar doesn’t have a vibrato system, you can still get the effect by buying a vibrato effects pedal. Using the Tremol-No is fairly straightforward. Switching the bridge from hardtail to floating (or vice versa) is easy and takes mere seconds. Anyone can do it. As a musician with over 15 years of experience, I’ll occasionally come across people mistaking the difference between tremolo vs vibrato. By vibrating the guitar string, either with your fretting hand or a vibrato system, you’re changing the pitch of the sound up and down. What does vibrato sound like

Again, it provides a rhythmic element to the music, but it’s often a lot more rapid than the tremolo effects. It’s mostly used to give a sense of excitement and urgency to a guitar part. The build quality of the Tremol-No is okay. There are things that it does well, but also things that can be improved upon. As a user of a Floyd Upgrades trem stopper, I would say this home-made effort is good for string changes, but that's where I would leave it, to be honest. Why? Tremolo is a modulation up and down in volume, whereas vibrato is a modulation up and down in pitch. Vibrato systems, like the ones seen on Fender Stratocasters, can apply vibrato to all of the guitar’s strings. This can be used to add some “shimmer” to chords, like in the following recording. Using the vibrato system is a great way to make these long chords more interesting. This all sounds great in theory, but let’s see whether the Tremol-No actually delivers on these claims. Unboxing
