About this deal

Many of their air guns are exact versions of vintage and classic weapons so you can own a piece of history. And with a realistic replica of modern weapons, you can practice target shooting and tactical training without breaking the budget on firearm ammo or expensive gun ranges. In fact, many law enforcement agencies use Umarex brand air guns for training purposes. The face plate is provided with a printed market to help the user align the plate correctly with the magazine body. Unfortunately – when this was done with the sample magazine – the result was mis-alignment of the face plate with the pellet below it. Other benefits are that the magazine itself is very easy to load, so long as you have a flat table (or similar) to do so. Plus, the face plate is provided with useful apertures that allow the number of pellets remaining to be seen.

This rifle comes fitted with front and rear fibre-optic open sights, with an adjustable rear goalpost and shrouded post at the front, which are more than adequate. It also comes supplied with a Walther 3-9x40 scope and mounts, which I must say is a joy to use. It has a basic ‘hunting’ crosshair, which you would expect from a budget scope, but it’s suitable for both short-range target and hunting situations. You won’t be able to use holdover or under with this, but then this kit is not designed to be an out-and-out hunter or target rifle – it’s all things to all men (and women). A warranty is provided by each manufacturer to ensure that your product is free of defect in both materials and workmanship. One thing that may be worth noting is that that the rear of that rear sight leaf is VERY close to the front of the magazine assembly! It's important to know that due to state and local laws, there are certain restrictions for various products. The Umarex Emerge air rifle tested by HAM displayed good consistency of trigger pull weight. This varied between 4 Lbs 9 Oz and 5 Lbs 3 Oz, a pretty tight range for the trigger on a breakbarrel in this price range. The answer is to shoot heavier pellets. This keeps the report quieter and – with Baracuda Match pellets – gave the best accuracy, too.

Also called muzzle velocity. This is the velocity of a projectile when it leaves the muzzle, or just afterwards. The number after the v stands for the distance in meters between the measuring instrument and the muzzle. Thus v 0 is a position right at the end of the barrel. In practice, v 1 is usually measured. This 4×32 scope has a fixed focus, however it could be focused for one specific distance if required. Although not all fixed-focus scopes have this capability, the end ring around the objective lens could be unscrewed. This reveals the objective (front) lens in its mount. (See the photo below). There’s no doubt that the metal magazine unit is pretty bomb-proof – not at all flimsy as with some plastic magazines. The steel face plate is tough, too. Furthermore the magnet system for holding the magazine in place is a high-tech feature in a gun of this price. Note that Umarex USA is very unlikely to approve of this modification. So you didn’t hear about it from HAM, especially if you mess-up the adjustment!Generally, the 12-shot rotary magazine worked well. We’ll cover this in more detail in the “Buying and Owning” section below. The result would be bad “scope bite” that could cause serious injury. Just say no to using the iron sights in this way. If you want to shoot without a scope, remove the thing first! A wasp-shaped lead pellet for airguns, used since the 1930s. The name comes from the resemblance to a juggling toy for children. It has to be said that the Umarex Emerge tested by HAM was louder than we had expected. The silencer looks slim and attractive, but maybe it could use more internal space to mitigate the sound of the pellet leaving the barrel?

This rifle features an adjustable two-stage trigger, which took a bit of getting used to. The factory setting as it comes straight out of the box is quite spongey and it almost feels like a single-stage trigger, but with a little adjustment I managed to set it just how I like it, with around 2.5lb of pull weight. The motion, vertical and horizontal, of a projectile. Trajectories resemble parabolas and depend on six factors: projectile velocity, air resistance, barrel angle, gravity, drag coefficient and twist. A second issue noticed on test was that the gun failed to fire the first pellet from the magazine on two separate occasions. We were not able to isolate the cause of this issue. Nor to repeat it thereafter. This is the sort of minor issue that can cause issues when new. However the owner would soon compensate naturally when loading the magazine. We did!I’m impressed, very impressed with this kit. Yes, there are PCP rifles out there for similar money, but for CO2 lovers this Umarex 850 M2 is a massive step up in terms of quality, accuracy and performance. Not only that, it’s really easy to shoot and extremely good fun, to boot. It’s the ideal gift for our younger shooters and for those just getting into the sport, as well as seasoned shooters who fancy a play with something a little different to the norm. When you open that box and see all the goodies inside, it’s like opening a birthday present – there’s just so much to go at. Umarex Legends series: Airguns modeled after historical firearms, capturing the spirit and aesthetics of iconic guns from the past. However, for our shooting tests, the HAM Team installed an old, but trusty Leapers UTG True Hunter 3-9 x 40AO scope and rings. Combined with substantial rings, this stood up well to the recoil of the Umarex Emerge. The Umarex Emerge tested by HAM delivered a maximum Muzzle Velocity of 1,143 FPS with both of the lightweight alloy pellets in the standard HAM test suite. One downside is that the Emerge owner needs to keep careful note of their shot count. The magazine provides no way to stop the gun being fired when no pellet has been loaded. Too many “blank shots” of this type will definitely be detrimental to the long-term performance of the gun.

Umarex offers a diverse range of airguns, catering to different shooting preferences and applications. Whether it's plinking, target shooting, or competitive shooting, Umarex has a model to suit every need. Some popular Umarex Airgun lines include: The 3-9 magnification zoom ring is particularly smooth, which makes it very easy to dial in and out.Rotational movement of a projectile around the bore axis. Stabilizes the trajectory. Caused by spiral grooves in the bore and the ridges between them (lands), which make the projectile spin. HAM Tester Eric Brewer considered this accuracy to be respectable for a breakbarrel air rifle of this price. Really, it was only that one shot at 7:30 breaking the outer ring that spoiled a reasonable group. However Eric did not call that as a “flier”. There’s iron sights, also a Picatinny rail for scope mounting. Plus, this rail is actually clamped-on to standard airgun dovetail rails that are machined into the compression tube. So, alternatively, you could also install a scope using those airgun rails, should you wish.
