About this deal

I’m assuming the ZBMINI actually does know the true state of the switch, but it either doesn’t pass that info on to HA or HA doesn’t show it in any way. The on-off indication in HA is based on the state of the relay. Hope that firmware is configured as “Zigbee Router” and not “End Device” as makes sense as a router.

SONOFF also have their own Zigbee USB dongle: the SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus, but you can select Zigbee Dongle USB from any other brand such as the Conbee II from Dresden Electronic which we are using with a Raspberry Pi 4 in this review. Once you have a Zigbee USB dongle, you’ll then need to integrate it into your home automation framework. There are various Zigbee integrations for Home Assistant, but I would recommend either Zigbee Home Automation (ZHA) which is quite easy to install/set up from the Home Assistant GUI, or Zigbee2MQTT. Both have lots of users with plenty of Zigbee end devices supported. The wiring diagrams above show how to connect the ZBMINI Extreme to a two types of switches and a load. The switch only needs the L line and S1 and/or S2 port to connect to an external switch. It would then work in two ways: from the physical switch and from the application. You can also wire a 2-way physical switch control. For those who have experience with the SONOFF Basic, this is different as the Basic model doesn’t have a port to connect an external switch, and it only enables control from the application or tiny button on the device that is not convenient to access.

With the original PR, this would introduce an UNSUPPORTED_ATTRIBUTE error on for example Heiman HS2SK, and no readings could be fetched from the device. D) The inspector I talked with said a device like this was acceptable for US codes because it had the manual switch override. He also said that using 18-guage wire for the switch would be acceptable as long as the load and line used proper gauge wire for the circuit’s rating. I don't own this device myself but there are some basic things all should try and more detailed information will also be needed: Next, we will hook up ZBMINI Extreme to some traditional devices in our home. Refer to the diagram below as a guideline showing how to wire the power cable to it. Make sure the mains are turned off during installation. We have two diagrams as examples: a desk lamp and a ceiling light. In a 50 mm internal depth wall housing there is with 28 mm plenty of space left for a switch, providing minimal cables and thin flexible cables between module and switch, providing they are properly terminated with wire ferrulesBrug eWeLinks Smart Scene-funktion til at oprette automatiseringer med andre Zigbee og WiFi eWeLink-produkter A maintenance guy at work recommended having the Lin come from the switch (maybe even embedding this at the fan box rather than the switch box). That way, you can easily hit the switch off if something happens with the zbmini, or even if the mini needs a reset, rather than having to go to the breaker. Těsně před napsáním tohoto článku jsem trochu hloubkově zapátral k výše popsané ne-kompatibilitě a našel jsem informaci, která byla nějakým Sonoff insiderem zveřejněná na Redditu :

https://community.home-assistant.io/t/sonoff-zbmini-l-zigbee-3-0-smart-switch-by-itead-works-without-neutral-wire-and-based-on-cc2652p-so-should-be-a-good-zigbee-router/384644/42 From the picture below, you can see compare the size of different SONOFF devices (left to right): MiniR2 (WiFi), MiniR2(ZB), and ZBMINI Extreme. I love the size! In addition to installing it inside a junction box, you could also integrate it into other devices such as home appliances due to ZBMINI Extreme’s small size. For example, it would be possible to convert a non-IOT device to a smart device such as a desk lamp, a tower lamp, or even a ventilation fan. The firmware for cc2652r has +5dBm output power by default. So, the firmware should be the same as for ZBMINI" SONOFF has rolled out smart switches in the market for years, and for each iteration, they make their devices smaller and more capable. The latest ZBMINI Extreme Zigbee Smart Switch or ZBMINIL2 or ZBMINI Extreme for shorts is what we will review today. Take note that there are both Zigbee and Wifi versions that come with the same form factor, we will walk through the Zigbee version first and we will review the WiFi version – SONOFF MINI Extreme (MINIR4)– later on. It seems that at least some of the radio board modules in ITead's newer products look to have a design flaw/limititation/flaw with missing components needed for using CC2652P with power amplifier enabled as per article about Sonoff ZBMINI v2 (01MINIZB):The tip is that might be a idea to try unofficial PTVO firmware but select the CC2652R chip type (and not CC2652P) in the PTVO firmware configurator to get firmware image without power amplifier enabled (TX power config set to +5dBm output power). I’ve replaced the rPI 4 at my partners for an Intel NUC. I can now get them to last ~7 days or so at hers, but I’ve removed all but one of these as they’re such a pain in the ass. (I assumed it might be the dongle dropping connectivity if it was struggling for power) - The NUC won’t have that issue. After that, Home Assistant will scan unconfigured Zigbee devices, and once it finds one it will let us know and allow us to optionally set the name and area for the deviceAlso say that the switch box does not have Neutral cables, only Line. I had seen this post: How to combine Sonoff ZBMINI with Zigbee smart bulb where it seems that the previous model does allow the relay to be jumped connecting everything to Lin but it requires a Neutral (I would have to pull a cable) and due to space I am not sure if it fits in the switch box. Inside the eWeLink app, we have a typical single-channel relay interface. At the time of writing, the setup for Sonoff ZBMiniL2 offered only schedules, times and loops. No additional switch controls were present in the settings. To change the switch mode from push to toggle, you’ll need to toggle the pair button 3 times – make sure to set the correct mode in advance. Regarding the logs, I already activate the debug mode and was not able to see anything relevant except the fact that the device has delay to answer to the command sent. For your information I try with a single device connected to the coordinator and the issue is the same ...
