About this deal

Every character in this spin-off has already captured my heart. Kazi, Wren, and Synové? BAD ASS FEMALE CHARACTERS. Period. I want to be them. That is all. Jase and the Ballengers? PRECIOUS. All of them. Protect them at all costs. Once again, this book was amazing. Did not dissapoint. Coming off of rereading The Remnant Chronicles, all the characters at the end meant so much more to me than they did the first read, and I just love them all so much. I love the way mary e. pearson writes, it’s so detailed yet not overwhelming, it’s simple yet holds so much, it just has me entranced with every word. hands down one of the best fantasy series I’ve read :D. besides going through an unnecessary and lame slump because of my brain, I couldn’t put this book down. the whole universe this series takes place in is so interesting and just enjoyable, you really feel like you’re there. this was a great end to the duology, I’ll admit after the first book I had no idea what the second book would hold, and let me tell you, there are plot twists and surprises that had my heart racing and just so many twists and turns, I loved it!

I LOVE A FOUND FAMILY and this definitely had a lot of found family vibes 😊 One Kazi's side, I completely adored her relationship with Synové and Wren - you could tell they were best friends. And Jase's entire family was so amazing too! I loved seeing the groups form relationships and come together One advantage that readers of Pearson’s Remnant Chronicles novels have here is that they’re already largely familiar with the world in which this story is set, including physical locations, people and the stories behind everything else. For those that haven’t read the earlier novels, however, the world of Dance with Thieves still feels rich and complicated, dense with culture and history.

Customer reviews

YOU CAN DEFINITELY read this without first reading The Remnant Chronicles but just know there are a lot of references and definitely spoilers for the original series. I hadn't read that series in a longg time so some of the references were a little hard for me to follow. I think it would be better if you hadn't read the original at all because then you wouldn't be awkwardly trying to connect the dots

Because that’s the vagabond way, I thought, but said nothing. Natiya didn’t talk much about her life before she became Vendan and a Rahtan, but I didn’t talk much about my earlier life either. Some things were better left in the past. Wren and Synové shifted uncomfortably on their feet, their boots pressing the grass into small, flat circles. Natiya wasn’t prone to sentimental displays, even if they were quiet ones like this, especially if they delayed her well-planned schedule. But now she lingered, just like her words that had ushered us into the valley. They are still here. Pearson (the Jenna Fox Chronicles) is off to an extraordinary start with her fantasy series, creating an alluring world and romance that's ideal for fans of Kristin Cashore and Megan Whalen Turner." — Publishers Weekly, starred review KAZI WAS A GREAT main character. I feel like more often than not in fantasy, the female character is always the "normal person" and then the guy is always the "badass" who gets to be morally grey and have all the cool powers. I loveddd how in this book, Kazi was the one in a secret military organization and Kazi was the one who was a renowned thief and had all the badass skills

The writing in this book is soo much better than the Remnant Chronicles. It was soo beautiful and absolutely entrancing.I really enjoyed it! Pearson is an excellent storyteller . . . . She brings an ambitious trilogy to a rousing conclusion." — The Horn Book With opposing loyalties and many to mistrust at court, the two dance dangerously close to death as the relationship between them strengthens. She fascinated me, her contradictions, her secrets, and the girl that sometimes surfaced from beneath her tough soldier exterior, like when she spotted the wish stalks on the bank. The girl who forgot who I was and pressed a wish stalk to my ankle. In another world, another circumstance, I think we might have been friends. Or more.”

Kazi is such an amazing, hot, badass and smart character! She really carried this book and I love love LOVEEEE her so so much! The things she had to go through in this book… I was so scared for her but she fought through all of it. She’s such a strong person and I’m just so glad that she finally got her happy ending that she deserves so so soooo much!! I now love Paxton <3 As weird as it may seem, I DO ship him and Priya, XD. I found it quite hilarious how he stutters when around her. Usually he has pLeNtY to say. Hmphh. I had seen the urgency in the queen’s eyes. I had heard it in her voice. This wasn’t only about the past. She feared for the future. Something was brewing, and she was desperate to stop it. The Ballengers have a small landmass they have been occupying since forever Ancients' times. But no kingdom recognizes their right to rule and govern over their land. That's really unfortunate for the Ballengers, cuz they're located right between a few other kingdoms who all think that they have the right over Ballengers' territoryWaiting for someone else to write your history was no way to live. Sometimes it was only a certain way to die.” Kazi is a legendary former street thief, sent by the queen to investigate transgressions against the new settlements. Pearson is a gifted storyteller and spinner of eminently satisfying romances and fantasy." — Publishers Weekly I was most ecstatic to read Mary E. Pearson’s Dance of Thieves that is set in the world of The Remnant Chronicles. It’s been many reads since I read that series, so I couldn’t quite remember everything about it, but in a way, that works best, for this new series isn’t about Lia and Rafe, it’s about Kazi and Jase. If you’ve read The Remnant Chronicles than you can pretty much expect the same greatness that series held in this first installment of the new series, Dance of Thieves. Unsure whether the other is alive or dead, Kazi and Jase must keep their wits among their greatest enemies and unlikeliest allies. And all the while, Death watches and waits.

Also, I remembered nothing that happened in the first book. It took me a while to remember who certain characters were, what certain things were, where certain places were. Like all of Jase's siblings, it took me a while to remember who they were, and I feel ashamed. WHAT A SPECTACULAR CONCLUSION TO THE SERIES! Though I must admit that the epilogue was a tad weird, it made a good conclusion to the book :) Also, I think this Montegue guy was a great villain. He's a disgusting pig-headed person, but a good villain.I haven't loved a fantasy romance in a while! Dance of Thieves definitely gives me Gondor (LoTR) vibes throughout. There are fierce families and a tight-knit kingdom of people surviving in a world of fantasy creatures - but also somewhat medieval vibes? This whole book was just incredibly well done.
