About this deal

Media server makes music, pictures and movies available to devices in the home network (DLNA/UPnP AV) The AVM FRITZ!Box range has always been one of the best all-in-one solutions for your home networking. I like the features from the router interface enough that I still use my 7590 to handle DHCP even though I no longer need the modem or WiFi functionality. The FRITZ!Box 7530 AX is one of the first WiFi 6 routers from AVM FRITZ!Box. To make things a little confusing, they have retained the same model number as the WiFi 5 AVM FRITZ!Box 7530 but added the AX extension associated with WiFi 6. I get rid of ADSL years ago when Virgin became available on my street, so I had to set this up using the existing Internet option where the LAN 1 port becomes your WAN port. The WiFi performance on the 7590 AX is mostly dictated by the 4 x 4 radio, with four channels on each frequency delivering a maximum throughput of 1733 + 800 Mbit/s, making this an AC2400 class design.

Ports: 1x Gigabit WAN, 4x Gigabit Ethernet LAN, 2x USB 3.0,VDSL/ADSL2+ Modem (Annex B), 2x Analogue Phone, 1x Analog or ISDN landlineThe Fritz Box 7530 AX is a popular router that offers a wide range of features and functionalities, making it a top choice for home and small office users. In this blog post, we will answer the 10 most searched for questions about the Fritz!Box 7530 AX. AVM currently have 5 separate repeaters but only the FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is WiFI 6 equipped. All the repeaters can work as standard old fashioned repeaters allowing you to use them with any brand. But when you pair them up with a FRITZ!Box they will make use of the mesh functionality allowing you to retain the same SSID around your home with fast roaming features.

That all this technology is crammed into a box just 256mm wide, 200mm deep, and 60mm high is impressive. Its small enough that it can be placed on any flat surface or wall mounted as required. All of those features plus world-beating performance might have been too much to ask, and so it proved, as the FRITZ!Box 7590 didn't blow away our performance tests.

FRITZ!OS – ένα πλήρως εφοδιασμένο λειτουργικό σύστημα When this reviewer covered the original 7950 model five years ago, I described its appearance as being a ‘little too Jetsons’, and the 7590 AX has a similar signature styling. The Router has a slightly unusual 3×3 5Ghz radio, so it should be able to handle a bit more congestion than many 2×2 routers. However, with WiFi 6 clients, you can only connect at 2×2, and this is limited to the 80Mhz channel width giving you a theoretical maximum throughput of 1200Mbps. Credit to AVM for building a router that, like its forebears, doesn't look like any other router out there, but its visual appeal is questionable at best. Final verdict

The Upstairs test is taken one storey up and roughly 15 metres away from the router, while the Garden test is approximately 20 metres away, with two closed doors and two load-bearing walls between the router and the clients. Results below are averages, rounded up: Wi-Fi 5 test The complexity of this device and the flexibility of its Fritz!OS Linux-based operating system would align well with users that like to get the most out of their equipment. However, for non-technical customers, it might be a little overwhelming. Performance Can I use the Fritz!Box 7530 AX as a repeater? Yes, the Fritz!Box 7530 AX can be used as a repeater to extend the range of your Wi-Fi network. At close range, using an AC-capable WiFi adapter, it is possible to achieve close to 900Mbit/s, though this would only be to a local NAS box or server unless you have 1000Mbit or better Internet. The FRITZ!Box 7530 AX includes a telephone system for modern IP-based connections. With DECT you can create a telephone system with up to six cordless phones. There are also ports for connecting your analog telephone or fax machine. Multiple answering machines, online telephone books and numerous convenience features make phone calls via the FRITZ!Box 7530 AX a joy. A variety of connections In RedesZone we have made a complete video with the unboxing and first impressions of this new router from the German manufacturer AVM, before seeing it, we have to explain the differences with respect to the FRITZ! Box 7530 model that has been with us for several years. Although this router is physically very similar to the FRITZ! Box 7530 model, and even they are called practically the same, the differences between both models are very important for you to choose the ideal router correctly:

The 7590 AX has expanded vertically over its predecessor and has a more pleasant shape that’s reminiscent of telecoms hardware from the 1990s.

A variety of connections

Our only reservation about all these features is that if you don’t need them, you might be paying more than you need to. Many router makers, Netgear being a prime example, want customers to use a mobile application to configure a router for deployment. The downsides of this approach are that it assumes the installation application is compatible with the phone or tablet of the customer and that the services it links to across the Internet are available.
