It is the receiver only[1]. To make it work you would need to add a dish + LNB + the cable to link it to the receiver. The easiest and cheapest way to improve the sound quality of small portable TVs used in caravans and motorhomes is to connect up to some PC speakers. for our caravan we recently bought a 24" LG from Currys. It is an HD ready smart Tv with Freesat & Freeview tuners. We have no complaints whatsoever.

So if you cannot get an unlimited 4G/5G data deal and you want to use TV streaming services, you’re going to have to pay close attention to your data usage. Most small flat-screen TV’s have pretty rubbish sound quality. This isn’t just for caravan TV’s though, we mean any small TV. This means that most on the list will not have an amazing sound quality no matter how good the brand is. The TV’s are that small that it’s impossible to build in any sort of quality speaker system. Personally I would not open the tv to improve reception. I would test it on a good aerial connection at home and adjust the settings where possible to provide best picture. As I said ours has always provided an excellent picture. This is not full HD but the resolution is 1024 x 600 which for a TV of this size is perfectly acceptable. There is also no DVD player but when you are buying a TV this small you can’t expect it to have one.

Telescopic poles are available which can be extended to almost 12" but collapse down to a manageable 4" for storage. It is recommended that you have a 25-metre length of 7mm-diameter 75ohm television coaxial cable with a standard male coaxial plug at each end. However, after observing guests putting up portable satellite dishes, you need to fit guy ropes. Some portable satellite dishes come with guy ropes, but many don’t.

What I wanted to do was provide some tips on how to get the best viewing (and listening) experience from the small portable TV in your caravan or motorhome. Receiving digital television by satellite has some significant advantages over terrestrial reception. For those who are travelling out in the wilds of Great Britain & Ireland, where terrestrial television signals are weak – if available at all – satellite is the best choice. And, for people who want to watch British programmes when they are abroad, satellite is the only available option.
