About this deal

Series 22 - Forever and Ever, Seeing is Believing ( cameo), Apology Impossible, Rosie is Red ( cameo) and The Case of the Puzzling Parts Sidney's last appearance until the special, The Great Race and his last appearance in an episode until the premiere of the twentieth series. As a result, the other steam engines find that he is likable and Paxton particularly looks up to Thomas at times. He also works alongside the narrow gauge engines frequently. However, Paxton can easily misjudge situations, misplace his trust in someone who might not have everyone's best interests at heart, and is a rather impressionable diesel, but his good nature will ultimately show him for who really wants to be. Paxton is a young, gentle diesel who often works in or around the Blue Mountain Quarry and the Vicarstown Dieselworks. He is good-hearted and well meaning, but gullible, naive, and easily misled. He tends to be more of a follower than a leader and can sometimes find thinking for himself and making big decisions difficult. This may result in him being pressured into a situation he might not necessarily be comfortable with. However, if a friend is in trouble, Paxton will have the conscience and the self-assertion to do what he himself feels is right. This episode was released in the US early before Tale of the Brave, so early American viewers may not have known who Reg was.

Thomas going down Owen's incline was inspired by a real life event with a Manning Wardle L Class ( Billy and Charlie's class) locomotive during 1925. In the twenty-second series, Sidney shunted a flatbed with parts for a diesel engine but he did not know who they are for. So he became Special Agent Sidney and he and Paxton solved the case of the puzzling parts. The answer turned out to be Sidney himself who needed repairing. This special marks the second time Thomas and Percy fight a fire, the first time being in the fifth series episode, Thomas, Percy and Old Slow Coach. Paxton was one of the Diesels who took over the Sodor Steamworks in 2011. He later laughed at Flynn for not being able to rescue Thomas. Paxton works at Blue Mountain Quarry and was once involved in an accident there when Blondin Bridge collapsed. He was then sent to the Sodor Dieselworks for repairs.

Duncan and Freddie were going to be included, but when the production crew went to the Talyllyn Railway to measure the engines, Duncan's basis was being overhauled, and could not be measured. Because of this, he was left out until the eighteenth series. Freddie's basis was also being overhauled at the time, but he did not return to the series at any time. The next day, Percy arrives at Knapford only to learn that Thomas is looking for him. Thomas then arrives and asks where Percy was. Percy tells him, but before anyone can say anything, Gordon pulls up announcing Kevin's disappearance. Percy tells everyone that he is at the Dieselworks to which Thomas asks if Victor knows. Percy admits that he does not and Thomas tells him that he must tell Victor right away. Sidney started life as a shunter on the Mainland, until he unwittingly followed some diesels onto a steamship bound for Sodor. [2] Series 19 - Henry Spots Trouble, Very Important Sheep ( cameo), Reds vs. Blues ( cameo), Philip to the Rescue ( cameo), Diesel's Ghostly Christmas, Goodbye Fat Controller and Wild Water Rescue Stanley's first speaking role since the his twelfth series episode, Thomas Puts the Brakes On, his first speaking role in a special since his debut in The Great Discovery and his first speaking role in a fully CGI-animated special or episode.Diesel is always bumping into the other engines and finds it very funny. It is his way of saying hello, but none of the other engines find it funny whatsoever. Blue Mountain Mystery ( does not speak), Risky Rails! ( does not speak), Hide-and-Seek Engines and Blue Mountain Mystery: The Movie Storybook During a big freeze, he helped the other diesels do the steam engines' work when the coal delivery was delayed. [9] Gordon's Brothers* | Flying Scotsman | Pretty Polly | Lemberg | Green Arrow* | Mallard* | Silver Jubilee* | Toby's Brothers* | 1020* | 8783* Diesel was also one of the diesels that took over the Sodor Steamworks. [5] He later teased Flynn for just standing around and doing nothing.

Cinema Set ( includes playmat with Thomas, Percy, Oliver, Diesel 10, Hiro, Belle, Flynn, Den, Harold and Sir Topham Hatt) ( discontinued) Derek is a jolly, enthusiastic diesel engine, keen on making an impression, who was brought in to assist Bill, Ben and BoCo at the China Clay quarry. Unfortunately, due to his engine, he is highly prone to teething troubles, namely overheating and suffering frequent breakdowns, for which he is apologetic for the inconvenience. As a result, he spends many a day having his engine tended to, which is unfortunate since he really wants to work hard. However, Derek is a likeable chap and even Bill and Ben decided that they liked him due to his friendly nature. Derek has an infectious charisma, is keen to help anyone around him and has a passion for sorting things out in a jiffy - if his cooling system lets him.

Meanwhile, Kevin is playing with Happy Hook at the Dieselworks until Diesel 10 comes in and puts a stop to it. At the Steamworks, Percy tells everyone about the Dieselworks, but Thomas still does not listen. So Percy tells Thomas he must collect Kevin from the Dieselworks. Victor very crossly goes to tell the Fat Controller about the recent events. Apart from laughing and cheering, 'Arry, Bert, Norman, Sidney and Paxton have no dialogue in this special. In the opening shot of the episode, Paxton is missing his train of hopper wagons. Also, at one point, his brake van is not present. On his way to rescue the Dieselworks with Belle and Percy, Flynn said "Here I come, Thomas! Fiery Flynn to the rescue!" In the eighteenth series, Den, Dart, Sidney and Diesel hid from Paxton, causing Paxton to search for them.

Paxton does not think the situation is a joke at all. He clatters up to the Blue Mountain Quarry to ask if there are any diesels there. Rusty calls out to him, but Paxton does not hear him as he is already rolling away to try somewhere else. At Knapford Station, Paxton asks if Thomas has seen any diesel engines. Thomas says he can see Paxton, but Paxton tells him it is the other diesels that have disappeared. Paxton leaves Thomas rather confused. Flynn fighting a fire at the Woods whilst the fireman shoos away some squirrels. This and the above scenes were from the fifteenth series episode, Fiery Flynn. According to Sharon Miller, she wrote Derek into a sixteenth series episode with a non-speaking role. [9] Bust My Buffers! was the episode in which this was to happen, but it never materialized due to "Paxman" in the script being mistaken for " Paxton".Series 17 - Wayward Winston, Gordon Runs Dry, Luke's New Friend ( cameo), The Lost Puff, The Missing Christmas Decorations and Thomas' Shortcut ( cameo)
