About this deal

A sharp knife, pruners or scissors. I usually get both a knife and a pair of scissors or pruners ready for this job, as the knife helps me cut the leaves off right at the soil line, and the scissors or pruners are easier to prune leaves in the central portion of the plant. Snake Plants are often recommended as excellent low-light houseplants because they can thrive in relatively dim conditions. However, they do need sunlight to grow tall!

After getting your snake plant home and choosing the perfect pot, it’s time to show it off in its new home! Other outdoor plants can also provide a burst of colour. Some of our summer blooming favourites include: Mother-in-Law’s Tongue. Many people use this common name as a catch-all for Snake Plants in general, but technically it refers to Dracaena (formerly Sansevieria) trifasciata, which looks like the Laurentii without the golden bands at the edges. This variety can exceed 6 feet in height. Don’t Fertilize It in the Winter: Stop fertilizing your Snake Plant when the days start feeling shorter, i.e., winter. Snake Plants are evergreen perennials, but they go into a naturally dormant state in the winter, like most plants. It might seem counterintuitive (giving less fertilizer equals more growth??), but feeding your plant baby is all about balance. Let it rest and gear up for springtime growing! In addition to providing a bit of ambiance, snake plants have a number of health benefits, including:Slow grower that does not require frequent repotting; repot when the plant’s roots grow out of the pot’s drainage holes. Twisted sister. The Sansevieria trifasciata “Twist” is a dwarf cultivar of Sansevieria trifasciata and only reaches about 15 inches in height. This hard-to-find plant consists of twisting variegated gold and green leaves.

Let’s talk about those tall, dark, and handsome snake plants. These beauties grow up to six feet tall, so giving them a pot that can handle their size and style is essential. Laurentii Sansevieria. The Laurentii is also a popular snake plant, known for its green-colored center and yellow margins. And don’t skimp on the materials. These big guys need a sturdy pot that won’t tip over at the first sign of a breeze. In terms of growth patterns, small snake plants like to keep things tight and cozy. They don’t need much space to thrive, so keep their pot snug and secure. And remember, just because they’re small doesn’t mean they’re any less important. These little guys have a lot of personality and can bring great joy to your home. Additional Considerations for Choosing the Best Pots for Snake Plants

How to Care For Snake Plants (Sansevieria Varieties)

This is the classic snake plant, also known as the Mother in Law's Tongue due to the pointed tongue-like shape of the foliage. Thriving in low light levels indoors (you cannot grow a snake plant outdoors in the UK), it sprouts up from a central crown and gradually widens as the plant matures.
