Fashion and Textiles (H005) focuses on a range of different fashion and textiles products, along with their applications and analysis, in respect of:

development and are communicated through a variety of methods and techniques which are mostly appropriate. We provide detailed guidance for teaching resources, to support teachers in the delivery of our GCE Design and Technology specifications. Apply their technical knowledge and understanding of materials, product functionality, manufacturing processes and techniquesUndertake case studies to enable them to demonstrate their understanding of design thinking and wider social, moral and environmental issues that impact on the design and manufacturing industries Central to this non-examined assessment is the requirement for students to understand and apply processes of iterative designing in their design and technology practice: exploring needs, creating solutions and evaluating how well the needs have been met. Product Design (H006) focuses on consumer products and applications, and their analysis in respect of: specification content and other subject areas such as Computer Science (section ‘The use of computer systems’

Knowledge will also be built on topics such as manufacturing processes theory, materials and their properties and relevant mathematical concepts. Students will apply these skills and knowledge through small projects, tasks and exam questions.

the development of products; Art and Design (section ‘Design communication’) and History (section ‘Design Theory’). This Design Engineering (H004) focuses on engineered and electronic products/systems with their analysis in respect of:Demonstrate their higher thinking skills to solve problems and evaluate situations and suitability of design solutions. Design and technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. The Eduqas Design and Technology A Level encourages learners to use creativity and imagination when applying iterative design processes to develop and modify designs, and to design and make prototypes that solve real world problems, considering their own and others’ needs, wants, aspirations and values. design proposals in response to ongoing evaluation and testing with some consideration of contingency planning as prototype For a number of these principles, mathematical and/or scientific knowledge is also required; this is indicated in the specifications. To enable students to develop the industry standard skills they need for visual communication and virtual testing students are expected to work through an additional CAD course independently, which runs alongside the A-level. Both Design Engineering and Product Design courses lead to the same qualification so cannot be taken together. Product Design is compatible with most other A-level courses, depending on your chosen career path. Due to coursework workload we would not advise you to do three creative/heavy coursework subjects. The exact combination can lead to different career options and can be discussed with staff at enrolment events. Some career paths such as engineering or architecture may also require Maths or Physics A-level. Assessment consists of both a designed and made project, and an examination in either fashion and textiles or product design. Demonstrate their technical knowledge of materials, product functionality, manufacturing processes and techniques
