The studio monitor designation might suggest that these are strictly for use in the studio but they’re far more versatile than that. The 179 x 297 x 298mm (WDH) dimensions aren’t teeny tiny – the cabinets are a little deeper than you might expect given the relatively dainty front profile – but the T5V remain compact enough for desktop use with a PC or laptop, narrow enough to squeeze onto a bookshelf, and don’t look out of place alongside a TV for home cinema duties. These have a dedicated level knob for low and high frequency. You get -2, 0 & +2 for low and high frequency. I've currently set HF to 0 and LF to +2 since I listen to them in a large room and I can really feel the bass anywhere in the room. One of the highlights of the T5V is its flat frequency response, a trait coveted by audiophiles and studio professionals. But ADAM Audio offers a cherry on top, with a tweakable frequency response curve that can be adjusted 2dbi up or down for high and low frequencies. This grants the listener the power to tailor the sound to their specific tastes or room acoustics. The highs and the mids are detailed, balanced, and ample. What they are not, though, is neutral. This is not the flattest response you can get in studio monitors. They do color the sound a little with the signature ADAM timbre.

My Emes Waldorf monitors were up for replacement. These were over twice the price when new, so I didn't expect a fair comparison but hoped the Adams would be acceptable. Much to my surprise though, these Adams had deeper lows and higher highs than the Emes did! Moreover, they provide such a wide frequency range without becoming boomy or shouty. This gentle behaviour means the mid-range isn't pushed away like often happens with cheaper speakers. The excellent acoustic characteristics, refined dimensions and superb cost/performance ratio make this monitor ideal for use in most situations, whether it’s music, video or broadcast production. It allows you to compare the performances of different speakers before even laying your ears hands on them. If you frequent multiple studio locations or travel aboard, there's no reason why you can't use these as part of a mobile production setup without compromising clarity and quality. With its 5 inch woofer the bass-frequency response of the T5V extends to 45 Hz. The new U-ART tweeter, a breakthrough solution for use in high-resolution recording and mixing on a budget, goes up to 25 kHz and is mated to a precision waveguide with the same dispersion-control attributes as the High Frequency Propagation (HPS) waveguide used in ADAM Audio's flagship S Series monitors.
